New York – 06/03/08 - Ningin.com and the AAFilmLab to Form Media Partnership for the Fifth Annual 72-Hour Shootout Short Film Competition.

Ningin.com and The Asian American Film Lab (AAFilmLab) announced today the beginning of a media partnership to offer streaming videos of all the entries in the Fifth Annual 72 Hour Shootout. The Shootout, which takes place on June 20-23, is a nationwide competition where filmmaking teams are given a common theme at the start and have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and complete short films up to five minutes in length.

This exclusive partnership will create a special AAFilmLab branded micro-site operated in collaboration with the Ningin staff and the AAFilmLab leadership that will launch on June 16th.

The partnership reflects Ningin’s commitment to promoting all things related to Asian media, especially the works of independent Asian and Asian American filmmakers, by making compelling content easily accessible via its social application technologies and by exposing new audiences to these original talents.

For the first time, all Ningin users and guests of Ningin will be able to participate in the public beta testing of its high-definition video streaming technology.

The partnership, which will build over time, comprises three elements:

- Technology: Ningin will provide hosting and streaming of current and past entries as well as interactive discussion. Users will be able to comment on the shorts, rate them, and recommend them to friends.

- Audience Favorite Award: Ningin will provide a voting system to determine popularity of this year’s entries.

- iPhone Prize: The winner of the Audience Favorite Award will receive a special Ningin branded iPhone embedded with the top ten videos from the competition. (Award does not include phone activation or service provider.)

hahahah classic if you check the 2007 site, you can see more

does anyone know the theme for this year

Anyone can participate. However if you’re not a filmmaker and have no experience shooting a film, my advice is to go find people that do and work with them. The theme and other related info have not been released yet.

We do try to keep improving, thanks for noticing =)

You guys open to sponsor other events? My friends are putting together a film festival in Philly around November I think.

you guys should host a ningin party and get a lot of hot meidos to model for you guys :D

Hoc this is so cool I don’t even know where to start with my praise.

If you need people to make interview or promotion clips for any of these teams, I’d be into that.

That would be so HOT!! Great idea!

yea Hoc, I know how hard you work on this site but it’s not just that. I know you do all this because you really want to and really believe in seeing more Asian representation in mainstream media. So I’m very happy for you guys! btw let me know how I can help.

Alvin + Jekki, that would be great. There’s certainly a lot we can do with this. I’m still in the planning stage with everything but feel free to shoot me emails if ideas pop into your head.

There’s already parties planned around this event. Check the AAfilmlab website for info on those.

Hoc, I think the point that ppl are trying to make here is that a party isn’t a party unless it has meidos. See?

But yea great idea on all of this. looking forward to the vidz!

wow sounds cool! Looking forward to seeing them and the “high-definition video streaming technology” smile

shouldn’t mods get advance knowledge of things on this site? raspberry
