MTV Asia Awards are being held in Malaysia this year on August 2 with host Jared Leto. No particularly famous in fact I don’t really remember him from anything but Requiem for a Dream. Any who, all nominations were chosen by a panel of judges who chose the nominee based on their music. The winner will be decided through online voting which closes on July 25th. 

Each country has their own nominees for Favorite Artist in their respective country and Korea’s nominations are Big Bang, Wonder Girls, So Nyuh Shi Dae (Girl’s Generation) and Super Junior. Supposedly SNSD fans are spamming the vote for SNSD. And yeah, you can vote more than once (every 10 minutes after your previous vote). As of right now (June 16, 2008 9:06PM), Big Bang has the lead with 37.5% of the votes with Super Junior following close with 37.45%. SNSD only has 18.96%; so much for the devoted fans. Although poor Sweden, excuse me, Wonder Girls only have 6.08% of the votes. Not that I was rooting for them anyways. Maybe their recent interview about the Dream Concert has embarrassed fans.

You can also vote for your Favorite International Artist in Asia with nominees Avril Lavigne, Fergie, Justin Timberlake and my favorite Linkin Park. The rest of the categories are Breakthrough Artist, The Innovation Award, Best Hook-Up, Bring Da House Down and Video Star all of which have American artists as the nominees. Some Asia Awards.

To vote go to http://mtvasiaawards.com. Pick your country, you’ll have to sign up for each country you vote for or at least I had to, and then you can vote like a mad man. I’m surprised Japan is not on the listing. Hrm…I wonder why.

They should call it MTV International awards then…


Japan has its own major music and movie awards shows and their pretty monopolistic about it too which is cool with me. MTV is starting to get annoying with all the different things they’re trying to do anyway.


Gah boy bands noo! haha I really don’t care who wins. None of the nominees are worth voting for


They do whatever makes money. It’s sad. I was hoping they would include more Asian artists. Super Junior just took the lead btw


It’s weird that they never air this in the US. And like they have a lot of international artist awards, but the US version doesn’t have any of that. MTV is so biased…


Yeah they use to be so crazy like that one year when Jim Carey showed up as some biker guy! hahaha I nearly laughed my ass off raspberry I mean Adam Sandler was cool but it was so long and pointless after awhile


This gets less and less exciting every year… Kinda like how the MTV awards in America have been.


That’s what I’m thinking haha The nomination is based on their music not the band....


Lol! I think Suju has actually been to Japan but none of the others. If its a Favorite Artist award why aren’t there more international bands

My vote goes to DBSK if they were nominated. But since they’re not I guess Big Bang although why isn’t Epik High up there


I know right. I don’t like any of them to be honest
