Miss Korea 2008

Fifty one Korean beauties competed in the 2008 Miss Korea Pageant held on August 6th at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul. The winner? Definitely nothing compared to the previous years or even this year’s Mr. Hong Kong. Her name is Na Re Keum.

While the rest of her is really cute (and by that I mean the crown and her dress), that face of hers could use a few touch ups. Even the runner ups look more pleasant. She kind of reminds me of an ajuma covered in rhinestones.

While she’s no Honey Lee or Riyo Mori or even Lee Ji Seon, maybe Korea will have their turn in the Miss Universe Pageant with this girl. I highly doubt it. My bets go to a South American country. They spit out Victoria’s Secret models like nothing. I would say Japan (who won in 2007) but their contestant this year isn’t too great either.

Beauty pageants are such an odd thing. Who says who’s the prettiest? It’s so hard to tell how the decision is made....I was in a pageant in high school....it was kind of lame.

Ha ha. I was about to blog about this but you beat me to the punch. Our new Miss Korea is 22 but looks like 35 in my opinion. In a society where double eyelid surgeries are common even for men and breast enhancement surgeries are common gifts from mothers to daughters, crowning a homely looking girl like her is rather unexpected.
