Jin Au-Yeung, the first Asian American solo rapper signed with a major record label in the States, has recently released an album in Hong Kong. The album features 11 songs in which Jin raps in Cantonese. The album and the first single are called “ABC”. Obviously Jin is rapping about himself and his background. I have listened to the entire album and find the songs to be really creative. The lyrics are hilarious too.
For those of you who don’t know who Jin is, he was born in Miami in the early 80s and was raised there by his Chinese parents who immigrated from Hong Kong. His big break came when he won the seven battles against other rappers in a program organized by the BET network and was consequently inducted into the show’s Hall of Fame. He released an album here a few years back. One of the better known singles from the album was called “Learn Chinese”. Here are some of his MVs for your viewing pleasure. Looks like our boy here has been eating too much Dim Sum as of late. Perhaps he’s hoping to score a celebrity dieting commercial deal in Hong Kong. I am just being a little mean. Look who’s talking, right? Big or small, he is definitely someone we should all be proud of. That’s what my mom always told me before she kicked my ass out of the house when I went to college.

I love Jin! I love his album “I Promise”. He gots mad skills! My favorite track is “Perfect Strangers” it’s such a nice beat and the lyrics are so smooth!
Asian rapper? I would be surprised if he did.
Some of his songs are really good. He should have been signed.
Can you rap too? lol
Jin is one of the hottest Asian rappers around. Plus we share the same name.
