This drool-worthy picture next to this paragraph is some dessert waffle dish called the “Giant Brown Apple Thunder” thingamagie. Last month, my friend “Stella” and I went to The Waffle Factory around Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu. That night, I was merely introduced to the waffles. Then we went to this one coffee shop/bar in the same vicinity called “The Library” for a drink or two.

Couple weeks ago, I told “Seungee” that we should both try the restaurant because the waffles that I did try a bit last time was delicious. Both of us are breakfast food fans, and we believe that breakfast foods are meant to be eaten during all times of the day. Unfortunately, finding good American-style breakfast is a bit of a pain in Seoul since we are either limited to the US military bases or at places that “Koreanises” the food. Thankfully, we lucked out! The Waffle Factory really do serve great breakfast food, in Seoul, all day long, and at a fairly reasonable price. We spent about 31 bucks at this place for two dishes and two drinks. Let’s move on and let the “blog-entation” begin! With pictures, naturally.

When Seungee and I got there, we decided to order the Belgian waffle combination platter with blackberry compotes and honey butter along with that thingamagie I mentioned up there. The eggs, the bacons, the sausages, and the potato wedges all agreed wonderfully with my tongue!

We also ordered two drinks. Seungee had the chocolate black tea, which was rather disgusting. I had the royal chocolate caramel milk, which suited my sweet tooth beautifully, and this is the picture to prove it.

For some reason, this place has the biggest fork I’ve ever seen being used as an utensil. It’s like the most perfect utensil weapon and the coolest phallic symbol ever.

Our almost empty plates. The person who neglected to finish the rest of the dessert waffles was me. I admit to the horrendous crime! But I had a good reason: I was just about to burst from the fullness!

Now here’s the deal with the so-called melamine peanuts. See, what happened was Stella and I were talking about the milk scandal in China, and we were just being silly by checking our drinks for any melamine content. Then we finished our beer peanuts, and we just happened to turn the container the peanuts were in and saw this:

(brand name)
Plastic with melamine
Made in China

Talk about irony. Anyway, Seungee and I went to “The Library” after we finished our waffles — and it was after we went to this one place that ticked us off because of their bad service. While here, I decided to try to capture the engraved text on the bottom of the red container. Couldn’t do it due to poor lighting. Therefore, I just took the picture of the whole thing instead.

What are melamine peanuts? o.o

That looks good though.

That’s HUGE!

Where is that place? When I visited last summer, I barely got anything nearly as big.

“And in the morning, I’m making waffles”!

That looks good.

“Koreanises” the food? You mean “hangul” the food?
Hangul it up! Hangul, Hangul, Hanjaaaa!

@Lan—They were just peanuts covered in crunchy edible things.  They aren’t really melamine peanuts. XD It just so happened that those were in one of those small dishes that restaurant like to put ketchup, mustard, and etcetera in them.

@Miss.Kang—It was in Itaewon area . . . what area were you in when you visited?

@DavidHou—I meant that food are made in Korean-style.  Or better yet, you know how foods that are not made in their native land doesn’t seem to taste the same?  Like the Korean foods in the states or Guam doesn’t taste like real Korean food in Korea?  Same thing applies to western food here.  A lot of places can mess it up and then it doesn’t taste quite like the real thing. ^_^

It doesnt count.. I saw yours first LOL! hhahahah

I actually miss waffles today.. but im having tasty seaweed soup for breakfast.. Its so chilly by my house today

I want some waffles.... gah. How come i never saw that place when I went to Itaewon? ;_;

@Armybratkat—When was the last time you were here?  And it’s not on the main Itaewon street drag.  It’s the road that goes up to the Gyeonridan—the street that leads up to the Namsan Tunnels. XD Or if you want the base landmark, it was outside around gate 3, the kimchi pot / Haebangchong gate.

Also, it opened up not too long ago.  Maybe a year . . . or two?!  I dunno when they first opened.

Oh… nevermind then. haha The few instances I was in Seoul I didn’t really explore Itaewon. I think I only went a couple times and that was… 3 years ago? I haven’t been back really since I graduated high school ;_;
