Leave it to the Japanese to utilize technology for the sole purpose of dressing it up in a maid costume. Dennou AR figures from Geisha Entertainment utilize your webcam and a little cube to project the image of anime girl “ARis” (Alice) on your screen. We’ve seen similar applications before in the ARToolKit Hatsune Miku (which, prior to this, was the coolest thing I had ever seen), but Geisha has taken it a step further with the addition of the magic paddle, which allows for some limited abuse harassment interaction with ARis.
I gotta say, I’ve wanted something like this ever since Sumomo busted in and started dancing on Hideki’s face, and I’m ecstatic (and slightly turned on) by this decisive step in the right direction. Naturally, there’s other uses of this technology, such as what CNN did on election night with their holographic interview, but if there’s moe to be found, you can be sure some smart Japanese otaku are on the job.
Virtual euphoria can be your reality from Himeyashop for $125.
The promo video below is a tad NSFW, unless you work in the Japanese game industry, in which case I implore you to buy immediately and improve upon it!
