Can a theme restaurant satisfy taste buds, serve an all you can eat menu of delicacies, and still provide customers with high class service?? Located in Tainan, Taiwan, the Alice Maid restaurant offers all these things with a distinguishing feature.

The manager, Ms. Xu the of Alice Maid restaurant, said that building a high quality and an interesting restaurant atmosphere are the main demands of the Alice Maid restaurant. In the begining, Ms. Xu just wanted to open up a coffee shop, but she saw some reviews related to theme restaurants in a Japanese magazine by chance, and she got the idea of using maid costumes on the waitresses as the restaurant’s theme. Today I received a facebook invite to “Hug A Korean Day“. My first initial response was ”HUH?”… But, if you know me then you know that “huh?” is pretty much my response for everything.

So, what is this new event that has facebook a buzz that it actually has 38,042 confirmed guests? Hug A Korean Day was started by tweenie twin sisters Lillian and Nora Hexter of Boston Mass. The girls were adopted from Seoul, South Korea when they were just four months old. These girls are no strangers to fame, Lillian placed with an honorary mention during 2007 Sejong Writing Competition. She said that being a Korean adoptee is one of the most important things in her life and that one of her goals is to return to Korea to volunteer in an orphanage. Even if she was not raised with her biological family, pride in her ethnicity is very apparent. So here is information on the event created by Lillian and her sister Nora. More »

Jessie tried to clear it up that her and Jay Chou did NOT have an affair. She said that if they were or weren’t together right now, that she would either die or gain 50 pounds. Jessie’s denial was prompted by the rapidly-spreading rumors of a new “Double J Love Affair.” The funny thing is Jessie and Jay’s affair have become the new version of “Double J Love Affair.”

Jessie held a new album release interview on the 11th during which Jay Chou appeared by video broadcast. Jay revealed that he originally wanted to sign a contract with Jessie but it was screwed up by the affair. So through video, Jay Chou apologized to her and hoped that it won’t affect the sale of new albums. More »

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you caught the Youtube Live event last night. I’m really disappointed with the false advertisement of BoA but such is life. Regardless, it was cool to see all familiar Youtube faces perform. If you haven’t seen it, you can still watch the performances on Youtube.

Here’s this week’s wrap up: More »

Like many BoA fans I was disappointed in Youtube’s blatant mis-advertising, but I decided to stay up for the Tokyo live at least to see BoA. I am happy I did, BoA’s professionalism raised the bar and just left the American live in the dust. She really played off being adorable and sexy without showing skin or tight clothes.

Her first song was her American single ”Eat You Up”. She impressed me with how well she sang it in comparison to her prerecorded version which has many electronic effects on her voice. Her second song was one of her more funkier songs “Lose your mind” followed by one of her classics ”Listen to Your Heart” and lastly the melodious ballad “Meri Kuri”.

Mid-performance, BoA took off her Jacket at and it got caught on her bracelets. It was a bit awkward as she struggled but she thanked her fans who yelled “Kakkoiiiii” and other words of encouragement.

The whole performance was about 20 minutes long you can watch it at http://jp.youtube.com/tokyolive

Like so many BoA fans, I excitedly waited for the event that would be aired live on Youtube. The concert was billed as a pan-Pacific web-cast of live performances by BoA and other artists. However, within the first 30 minutes of the show BoA’s name was taking off the roster of the upcoming performance artists. I began to comment why is BoA off the roster but my comments were never approved. It made me wonder if they canceled her performance because it would not be the first time a Korean artist cancels on us. Watching the rest of Youtube Live, there was no news and a lot of bad performances. More »

Back in January of this year, for about three weeks, I was addicted to Majesco’s Cooking Mama I and II on the Nintendo DS. For some reason, even though I usually don’t care for games like this, I was determined to beat both of them, and I did. I mean, seriously, you just play as Mama and cook different recipes, most of them Japanese-based.

However, I discovered that PETA decided to do a flash game parody — with Thanksgiving coming up and all. It wanted to show the mistreatments that turkeys receive. As the user, you get to play as evil!Mama where you pretend pluck the turkey’s feather, pull its organs out, stuff them, cook them, and etcetera etcetera. I admit, it’s pretty gruesome — making me almost wish I was a vegetarian. After that part of the game, it opens up a new stage where you play as nice!Mama and this time cook a tofu “turkey” dish.

Give it a try here. Honestly, I can say that it seems to work as a pretty interesting propaganda tool. In fact, PETA is also pushing Majesco into making a vegetarian Cooking Mama. Now I think that’s pushing the whole “vegetarian” act a bit too far.

Look up, it’s a bird, it’s a plane… nope, it’s a cloud? Yes that’s right, a super-cool rock band called ”Dear Cloud” to be exact. I would have never heard about this band if it wasn’t for the Hallyu hit drama Coffee Prince. Although the band was not featured on the shows soundtrack, they linked themselves to it in an interesting way. They acquired one of the young hot costars, of the show, for their debut music video. Kim Jae Wook who played half Japanese/Korean Romantic-Royal Waffletier Ryo SunKi in coffee prince. He was also the catalyst in Dear Cloud’s MV for Ice fortress. Jae Wook was already a fan favorite due to his model features and Japanese volubility, so anything he aligned himself with had instant interest from fangirls. Even more so interesting is that he is close friends with the members of the band he agreed to appear in the video for no charge. This was a lucky break for the indie band whose video shot into the spotlight along side K-pop superstars. With a musical range of deep ballads and edgy rock songs they have paved their path to popularity with a silver lining. The responses have been great so far for Eddie Lebron’s Megaman Movie trailer and we want to thank everyone who was patient and watched the trailer right here on Ningin.com. Yea, apologies for the site slowdown. We had many, many spikes yesterday!

We want to give out some free Megaman stuff like the new Megaman 9 game (on your system of choice), free tickets to the Megaman movie screenings, and free Megaman DVDs. Unfortunately we don’t have enough for the tens of thousands of people who watched so here’s a simple little contest to determine the winner: More »

I can’t cook to save my life so I decided to cook something simple like egg rolls.

Granted they look really bad but at least they tasted yummy. My favorite part about making them (besides eating them) is actually rolling them all together. I didn’t learn how to do it until last year (yes I’m a nublet) and since then I love to practice. It’s like playing real life Order Up (Wii) only I don’t have to spaz as much.

Anyways how often to you cook and are you any good at it? More »

Earlier this week, at the Sejong Centre for the Performing Arts in Sejongno, Jongno-gu, Kang Sue Jin gave her last performance as Juliet in the ballet Romeo and Juliet by John Cranko in her homeland. I didn’t see this performance, but I wished I did after I read up on Kang. She sounds pretty impressive by what I’ve read about her. Plus she’s in her 40s, making her one of the oldest female ballerinas around.

Seriously, Kang has one heck of a resume. She started ballet at the age of twelve, and what most ballet students would cover in eight to nine years, she crammed it all into three. Then she won first prize at the Prix de Lausanne as the first Asian. That gave her the leeway to join Stuttgart Ballet company, where at age nineteen, she was the youngest and the first Asian, again, to join. For the next twenty years, she started at the bottom but steadily worked her way up and received recognition for her beautiful dancing and her hard work. More »

Lucy Liu is not doing so well with her career these days. After the cancelation of Cashmere Mafia earlier this year, she joined the cast of Dirty Sexy Money and now it looks like our homegirl is unemployed again. A source at ABC has confirmed that the network has canceled the show.

The cancelation of the show means that there will be one fewer Asian face on the major TV network programs, and there were not a whole lot to begin with. Perhaps It’s time for me to quit my day job and go into acting. We need more Asian actors and all the bitches I know call me a “Drama Queen” anyway so why waste my natural talent of acting? I should hit up Lucy Liu and ask if she wants to be my acting coach since she will have a lot of time on her hands soon.

Why do you watch anime? The intense imagination, the wondrous fantasy worlds, the deep plots woven with romance, drama, and suspense? Maybe for the big robots, the big swords, the big hair, and the big charcoal eyes? Or maybe comedy is your bag of chips, no matter how painfully weird it gets. Whatever your taste in anime however, there seems to always be one constant to almost all genres - the smokin’ hot girls. More »

Happy Megaman day. If you didn’t know, we’ve posted the official trailer on the homepage of Ningin. Definitely check it out because it’s freaking awesome. Good job Eddie! I can’t wait to see the movie.

Here’s this week’s round up, enjoy! More »

Oops! Sorry Rain fans didn’t mean to startle you gals. I am not talking about the members of Clouds “the Fan Club”; I am actually talking about two super awesome Korean bands that have the word Cloud in their title. The first is the original line-up of the foursome Cloud9 and the second group is the diverse quintet called Dear Cloud. So here is some information on how I came across these great groups and who they are. More »

People Magazine just released its annual Sexiest Man Alive list today. The sexiest man was Aussie actor Hugh Jackman. Ya, Hugh is hot. I saw him on the Broadway Musical The Boy From Oz a few years ago and he was mighty fine.  There were 15 other men on the list as well but the one that caught my attention was Chinese pianist Lang Lang, the sole Asian man on the list. Lang Lang? Really? Do you consider this pic hot? Or this? Don’t get me wrong, I am proud that there is an Asian dude on the list this year, but there are so many other Asian men they can consider than this pianist who’s a talented and great performer. But sexy? No way! More »

I laughed my ass off when I saw this picture. Apparently some Japanese lingerie manufacturer saw the “Seinfeld” episode of It’s The Bro” one too many times and decided that there was indeed a market for such a product. I don’t understand why the designs on the poster look like women’s bras? Is this a product for men who do drag on the weekends, or those with lingerie fetishes? I thought it’s for those with sagging men breasts but the designs sure don’t look manly enough to assure them that they won’t turn gay upon wearing them.  I guess these poor fools don’t have a lot of options. It’s either they walk with sagging breasts, wear this undergarment or go under the knife for a Male Mastopexy Chest Lift surgery. Back to the “bros”, I wonder if they will help lift and separate like a good women’s bra. Gee, I have way too many questions about this product. I should put one on to satisfy my curiosity.
