It’s the end of the road for 2008. Goodbye Samurai Girl, Edison Chen and your photos, and of course goodbye to George W. Bush. Special thanks to Beijing Olympics, the cast of Hana Yori Dango, and Barrack Obama. You’ve been great!

If this year was good to you, then you’ll probably look back on it with fond memories. If this was a rough year for you, I’m talking to you American economy, then it’s a good thing 2008 is just about over. As a wise turtle once said, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” (5 points to the first person who correctly guess where that’s from.)

Anyway, starting today, Ningin will be doing a 5-Day End of the Year Review special. We’ll look at the top artists, movies, tv shows, music videos, photos, songs, websites, and more from 2008. We’ll also look at who’s been naughty and who’s been nice because we like to label and categorized people. As usual, we create a special page for all this stuff:

I would have to say Ningin did pretty good this year. Our social news section was finished in January, blogs in March, forums in May. If you told me in May that we would get to do video interviews with Wonder Girls and BoA, I would’ve of told you thanks for being wildly optimistic. Somehow, that became true. We also covered some big events like New York Anime Festivals, Chuseok Festival, and even put together our own big event, Rebuilding the Bridge. Out of all the cool things we did, I’m kinda most happy about our blog staff. We went from 0 to 18 bloggers and contributors, each adding their own diverse writing style, personality, and experience. And it’s always fun to make friends, something we’re fortunate to do a lot of this year, having fun and making friends. It seems like Ningin is becoming a community for Asian Media after all.

As for 2009, let’s just say expect more video interviews, more big events, and more cool features.

Thanks again to all those that help Ningin grow this year, bloggers, users, and even the people who read Ningin but don’t want to register.

This blog posting is part of the 5 day 2008 End of the Year event happening Dec. 15-19.

yay for a good year! (sorry if i added major stress balls to it)

Stress balls? I guess that’s one way of putting it ;p

stress balls are a nice stress reliever. i like putting them to my ears and listening to them

Are you talking about medicine balls or the squishy stress balls? lol

LOOOL this post is cracking me up! ok wooo! I’m talking about the silver ones, that you roll around in your hands, they make like this “ting ting” sound. I know in some parts of China they can get REALLY big and you can roll the big balls all over your body LOOOOL, wonder if they come in blue? LOOOOOL

lol! Those are Chinese medicine balls. I kind of figured you were talking about them when you said you liked listening to them, but some part of me wondered if you were talking about the foamy stress balls that people squeeze, haha.

Have you heard of the 2012 movie?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VXa82AuwHU

I like how they add Google Search at the end.

Yeah I can’t wait to see that movie! I like disaster movies, because they are full of action and they bring humanity together as one.

Nani? Haha

Haha yeah, I saw the trailer on Hulu a couple of weeks ago. Sooo funny/smart how they just end with “Google 2012.”

The world will supposedly1 end by 2012.

Yes, according to the Aztec calendar. It’s kind of ambiguous, but it definitely suggests the human race will experience a major change, which many argue is going to be apocalyptic or a little more benevolent, like humans merging into a universal singularity. And of course, Hollywood is all over apocalypses, so there’s a movie coming out about it, too.

Hey nothing happened in Y2k, right...? Heh. :/ We’ll worry about that in 2011, haha. Hurray for 2009!

Ok I just reread what I wrote and I’m realizing I could use a vacation.

I meant, we plan on implementing a really cool ranking system and no it’s not based on the miltary.

Awwwww :(
