Don’t act like you’ve never subjected an hour of your time watching an E! special on top (insert topic here.) You’ve been bored before, don’t lie. Ningin.com is certainly not going lie about this: 2008 experienced a few Asian scandals. Not enough to warrant an E! special, but enough for Ningin.com’s sake. In no particular order, save for the last scandal (the biggest scandal), 2008’s scandals:

I don’t even know if this is worth recapping — I’m sure you know about it. On the chance that you don’t, basically…if you’ve ever had sex with Edison Chen, your sex pictures are circulating the Internet. And you’re probably out of a job. And he is too. (In the entertainment biz, at least.)
What, you’re supposed to be educated to qualify as a beauty pageant contestant? There is no pleasing Miss Vietnam pageant officials in expressing wishes for world peace and for everyone to have a puppy. This year, Tran Thi Thuy Dung was denied the Miss Vietnam crown when it was known that she was a high school drop-out.
Kazuhiro Watanabe, announcer for Fuji TV’s Mezamashi program, publicly apologized for an affair with someone that wasn’t his wife. Unusually forgiving, Fuji TV has allowed Watanabe to continue his announcer career.
Unfortunately, Fuji TV was not as forgiving in the case of announcer Mona Yamamoto. Women’s magazine Josei Seven reported Yamamoto was seen entering a love hotel with Yomiuri Giants’ Tomohiro Nioka…a married baseball player. Yamamoto has since been removed from Fuji TV in an effort to express her shame.
“I would like to emphasize that I did not make the tape myself. Who has done this and why it was done is obvious. Who made this tape is not important any more,” said Chua Soi Lek, Malaysian health minister. We’ve heard that before. We need more details beyond you being a married Malaysian government official caught in a sex tape with a “friend”!
Korean actress Ok So Ri charged of an extramarital affair took a stand against Korea’s 55 year old law against adultery as a crime. Ok asked the Korean Constitutional Court to to rule the law as unconstitutional. With a resounding, ‘HALE NOOO!’ they sentenced her to 2 years. No joke, here guys.

Traces of melamine in Chinese baby formula have killed 6 infants and sickened 300,000. Melamine was used to cheat quality control tests for protein levels. The scandal has lead to worldwide suspicion and careful scrutiny of Chinese products. My prayers go out to the families and infants affected.
And there you have it.

Yeah it affected so many Asian countries, and it freaked me out in the states, too. I used to keep a can or two of Mr. Brown or Boss coffee in my fridge for rushed mornings, but after I caught wind of the news I stopped buying them--they’re Taiwanese and Japanese canned coffees that have milk powder as an ingredient. I’m sure a lot of affected countries are still worried, but I know for sure Taiwan is still riding the angry train. Of course, the worst thing of all is all those ill babies with kidney stones…

Yep.
The milk scandal is really still going on, But it started befoer the milk. It waqs found in petfood and eggs too.
It’s such a sad story. I feel sorry for all those children.
Maybe not, but it left its mark on the world, or at least on other Asian country. We still have people in Korea afraid of using Chinese food products.

No I don’t think so. They found the culprit right which was the milk distributors?
Is the milk scandal still going on?

Most scandals are about sex?
Pretty much.
12/19/08 12:37 am
Most of these deal with sex. -.-; Just keep it in your pants people!
Haha I know, right?

Why do you consider the milk scandal the biggest Jinra?
For me it’s a bigger deal when life and death are at stake, not careers.

I agree Miss Kang, and Tara you’ve got a point there. That would be bigger than with ‘whom’ Edison Chen is with and ‘what’ they are doing together.
I can’t believe some of these. Haha
Most scandals are about sex?

Is that the same thing? haha
Screw the celebrity scandals. The milk scandal is definitely impacting for the whole world, I think.
You forgot the Choi Jin Sil scandal. Well it wasn’t really a scandal but there was a lot of controversy.

The Malaysian one was so gross. I remember hearing about the video and completely flipped.
Why do you consider the milk scandal the biggest Jinra?

The Edison Chen scandal was probably the BIGGEST.
