Or so says this article. But then I read this article and go HUH . . .
I can understand the reluctance from South Korea’s side. I can sort of understand how some South Korean officials do not want everything to be “Japanised.” However, I can’t help but think, uh, sorry South Korea, but Japanese mangas, novels, and etcetera intrigue me more. Heck, even this entry just sort of proves from my side of the world that Japan rocks in certain areas. I admit that I am more biased towards Japanese products and media than I am towards South Korea’s, but I’ll blame that on my Japan-oriented hobbies.
Anyway, while the South Korean officials will worry about this new trend, I can’t imagine Japan taking over all of South Korea’s pop culture like that. Knowing how South Koreans are, they will just create something else that may be better (or worse) and create a new Korean pop invasion in Japan, China, and the rest of Asia. I don’t know if it’s a leftover bitterness from the colonisation days or not, but there has always been an invasion of something from one country to another, and the ones being invaded prevail and still remain culturally unique. Just look at the British Pop invasion in the ’60s with The Beatles, the video game invasion by Nintendo and Sony from Japan, and etcetera.
South Korea, you really don’t need to worry. Instead, worry more about the current economical state that’s hitting you guys right now.

How stupid! They need to worry about the US and Europe. No offence but it’s hard enough for Japanese artists as well as other atists in their respected countries to compete with each other because music from the US and Europe take over the music industry there.

Korea definitley has its own popculture that they do very well. It shows in their critically aclaimed cinema, drama and music. They do this so well that they dont need other forms at this moment. BUt yeah the goverment needs to chill .. too many restrictions on media lyrically and imported wise are going to make people stir crazy.
Bleh whatever. haha
LOL! And banned an actor for supposedly having a big debt.
And this is from the government who thought DBSK was talking about periods in their songs?
Of all the things they’re concerned about, this is one of them?
