Jo Koy is a Filipino American and one of the funniest comedians that I have seen. I’ve watched him on the show “Showtime at the Apollo”, Dave Chappelle Show, VH1’s “I Love the 80’s” and “I Love the New Millenium”. He has always left me crying laughing at his jokes and from his facial expressions alone. Tonight, January 4th at 10PM EST on the Comedy Central, he will be doing a one hour stand up comedy show called, ” Jo Koy Don’t Make Him Angry”. Be sure to tune in and enjoy some bone, cracking, laughing fun!

This is a stand-up of Jo Koy on the Jay Leno show:

Hey, Mai, I think it’s great how you are so in tune to Asian steteotypes. I know you are concerned about Muslim rights as well. At the Asian Summit I attended a couple months ago, the keynote speaker, who was Indian, said that people of Middle Eastern descent faced many of the same issues as Asian-Americans, and were often lumped together demographically. Interesting....

Thanks Elena! So are you! smile Yeah I noticed that he mentioned that. It is very true to what he said about Middle Eastern and Asian American people being lumped together. Both peoples face the fact that they seem to never be able to be American enough in this society. I’ve seen many minorities in general trying their best to “blend” in with the rest of the population, some doing it very successfully but at the cost of their identity and their culture. People who are Muslim of the Islamic faith still get stigmatized as being a part of a terrorist organization or supporting terrorists for simply being a Muslim in this country. I for one do not easily scare or budge, because I am different from the general population. This doesn’t mean that I haven’t struggled, of course I have. I know from what I’ve been through and am going through it is easier for me to sympathize and empathize with other minorities. I also believe in a connection to all humans in some way, shape, or form.
