MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew returns this Thursday with another promising season and a new lineup of talented dance crews. Diversity is key in this season’s roster of crew competitors, with dance styles ranging from bboy to salsa to jazz funk. Much can’t be said about the diversity of these dance crews’ home bases as the majority of the crews are either from the West Coast or the East Coast, except for one crew from the South (Dynamic Edition) and another from Puerto Rico (G.O.P. Dance). The West Coast vs. East Coast issue refuses to end here.
This season, keep an eye out for Team Millennia, ABDC’s first underdog crew. Despite being well-received by audiences last year, Team Millennia did not make the cut for season 2. However, they are back (and hopefully with a vengeance) for ABCD 3! Also, not gonna lie (and just so you know), I’m slightly partial to Team Millennia because they base their origins in my alma mater (Cal State Fullerton). Just as Kaba Modern is to UCI (University of California, Irvine), Team Millennia is to Cal State Fullerton. I’ve also seen them perform at the occasional Filipino-cultural night at college, and they were pretty good. Behold the goodness:
Another thing to note about this season is the lack of JC Chasez. I’m not sure who said “Bye-Bye-Bye” to JC, but Rainen Paguio of JabbaWockeeZ fame is filling in as guest judge. Smooth move, MTV. I couldn’t think of a better person to take Chasez’s place. After all, it’s been quite awhile since we’ve actually seen Chasez dance.

So, readers, who are you rooting for?
