It’s the Year of the Ox, and we’re celebrating with contest after contest! This time, Ningin is combining forces with Subway Cinema to give out TEN free tickets to the world premiere of YATTERMAN (ヤッターマン). On Friday, February 6, at 8pm, director Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Ichi the Killer, The Great Yokai War, Sukiyaki Western Django) and Sho Sakurai, actor and singer from Japanese boy band Arashi, will personally present YATTERMAN at New York City’s prestigious Director’s Guild Theater.
That’s right. World Premiere. This movie doesn’t even open in Japan until March.
Based on the classic Yatterman anime from the 1970’s, this live-action remake is the biggest film Takashi Miike has ever made. The excellent cast stars Sho Sakurai as Gan-chan3, Saki Fukuda as Ai-chan, Kyoko Fukada as Dorombo Gang leader Doronjo, Kendo Kobayashi as Tonzura, Katsuhisa Namase as Boyakki, and Anri Okamoto as the film’s new character Shoko.
This screening is not open to the public. You can get passes at the Nikkatsu Booth (#1315) at New York Comic Con, but you’ve got to wait in line outside the theater. If there are any seats left after the VIPs arrive, then you can go in. That’s the usual routine for a free movie, right? Well, guess what? Ningin winners are guaranteed entry and a seat. To enter PM DavidHou with “YATTERMAN ROCKS!” in the subject line. Write your name and phone number in the message body and send it by 9pm, Wednesday, February 4. We’ll pick five winners at random. Each winner will receive two tickets each.
For the Japanese proficient, check out the official YATTERMAN site. And check out our contest partners Subway Cinema too! The Subway guys organize the New York Asian Film Festival and kick major a$$ every year! They organized this screening and wanted to spread the love to our Ningin readers. Once again, I must repeat: Subway Cinema kicks major a$$!
And now I know you want to watch The TRAILERRRRRR!!! Good Luck!
