ESL doesn’t come easy to everyone, and those who are not very skilled in English are considered slow minded, for lack of a better term. Due to most native speakers having no experience with learning a new language, they see broken English as an unattractive quality. Misunderstanding this difficulty leaves some unappreciative to those who earnestly make attempts at a new dialect. Plus, it is not rare to see the accepted practice of comedians poking fun at others who have thick accents. Now not all humor is not mean-spirited. Take for example these YouTube videos of Aiba Masaki from the ultimate boy-band Arashi. His attempts at communicating in English are filmed for the world to witness.
Instead of him being seen as a goof or a comedian he has become an endearing idol. His semiskilled English showcases an adorable and charming side. He has switched many of us girls to the Fobbish side of the force. Sure, coherent speech and perfect diction are things we strive for in communicating but these clip compilations of Aiba are just darlingly cute.
haha Arashi members are so cute!
I like when Japanese talk English. Their accent sounds so cute like Aiba’s.
lol I love this video so much
That was really funny but he seems so stupid.
“Don’t touch me!” hahahaha
Yeah it is bad but it’s so funny that it’s okay.
Well I guess Arashi isn’t debuting in the US. lol

Thank you!
I am setting goals each new article. Sidebar Guidelines, Tiffanie’s notes, Lan’s notes, and keep it 700 words or less.
I began with 300 and couldn’t do it. Then I said 500. Now its 700 words or less. LOL

i’ve always admired aiba-chan, striving to practise his english
even if the other members constantly makes fun of him and his english, he still works on it every single opportunity he has. so i agree! it is one of his loveable qualities
