Along with five other films, Antique will be screened at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. The film is based on a manga series, Antique Bakery by Yoshinaga Fumi. The story’s basic premise is about four men whose lives are all connected by this bakery. Apparently, there are some shounen-ai undertones in the original manga, and judging by the film’s trailer, it seems to have it, too.

Oh, and the film came out already this past November. My brain must have taken a real long vacation because I actually don’t know how I missed this film in the first place. I knew of the manga and of the live-action series in Japan, yes, but . . . don’t ask how the film slipped past me. I’m glad the film’s going to Berlin, though. If it weren’t for that, then I wouldn’t have read about this in the news like this. Now that I’m aware of such findings and after seeing the trailer . . . I need to check this out! The manga and the film, too!
