I’m actually against Valentine’s Day, going as far as to call it “Crappytine’s Day”. But I figure I’ll stop being a curmudgeon just for the next fifteen minutes as I write this entry. I’m even going to be generous and put up more than one song (it’s a “special” occasion), so tadah! Hope you all enjoy this week’s selections. Happy Crappytine’s Valentine’s Day!

Whose Love?

Title: I’ll Be Your Love (Live)
Artist/Composer: Violet UK
Album: 2003 Various Artists album Exposition of Global Harmony
Blurbs: As an X Japan and Yoshiki (the drummer, pianist, and composer for X Japan) fan, I was thrilled when I first heard this song. Violet UK happens to be one of Yoshiki’s projects, and he collaborates with Nicole Scherzinger for the vocals of the English version. There’s also a Japanese version where Dahlia sings it. Anyway, this song is gorgeous. Maybe a wee bit too mushy, but it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, I suppose.

Oh, Laguna! Wherefore Art Thou?

Title: Eyes on Me
Artist/Composer: MayBee
Album: Eyes on Me single
Blurbs: Usually, I dislike covers. But this Korean singer actually did a nice job of the theme song for Final Fantasy VIII. I ended up liking it more than I expected. And now I want to play the game and see if I can actually get past the second disc . . .

Jinu and Sean, Let Me Hi — Oops! Wrong Song

Title: Celebrate
Artist/Composer: Jinusean
Album: Gasoline
Blurbs: I remember listening to this album, and when I first heard “Celebrate” in Korean and in English, I was won over by its prettiness. Hey, if a song can make me look silly, make me swoon, and make me want to worship the vocalists, then I think it’s a song that deserves to be played on Valentine’s Day.
