Wonder Girls Dance Contest – Updates and FAQs

Updates (or Rule Changes)

1. You can submit more than one video. This means you can do one by yourself, one with a group of friends, one with your siblings, one with random people, and however many other combinations exist in your life. This change was implemented due to the voluminous requests for multiple entries.

2. Canadians can now enter the contest, expect for those Canadians in the province of Quebec. This was more a legal issue than anything else. You still have to cover your own travel. Everyone else that’s not American or Canadian, you can still dance for fun. You’ll still be seen by the Wonder Girls!

I should note that entering this contest serves as more than just a way to win free stuff. It also helps promote the Wonder Girls internationally and Ningin (the hard working site that is putting all of this stuff together). So definitely enter if you can.

And now onto the other questions. You’ll notice that these questions are verbatim in grammar and spelling.

Q. “so do we make up a dance routine or simple replicate??”

Q. does it HAVE to be “their” dance or can you make up a dance to their song?

Q. do you have to dance the whole song (like all three-four minutes) or just a segment (like 1.5~2 min)? just wondering because some of the dances tend to be very repetitive.

Q. Hmm.. the dance we do has to be the whole song? Or can it be like 1 minute of one song and the next minute of another song?

Q. Are we allowed to do more than one dance song? Like can we do: Tell me & Nobody? Or are we only allowed to do one dance? Because I want to do both! >< Thank you in advance~

A. The contest theme is to replicate one of the dances from their hit songs such as “Tell Me,” “Nobody”, and “So Hot”. However, you can make up your own choreography but it won’t necessarily better or worsen your chances of winning. Your submission has to be within the 2-5 minute length that we stated before.

You can combine, remix, or bring in Puff Daddy as long as people can readily see that it’s one of the three Wonder Girls we selected. If there’s any confusion, Ningin will have the final say.

Q. i’m so doing this! it’s says UP to 5 people right? so just two people will be ok? just checking!

A. A group of two people is fine. If your group wins, both of you get to go backstage =)

Q. Hi, I’m thinking about entering the dance contest with a friend of mine. My friend turned 13 in January, but I have not turned 13 yet. My birthday is on February 20. If I enter our video AFTER my birthday but before the due date, would I be eligible for a prize IF we win?

A. Did you get this question out of a SAT exam? If I understand your question correctly, then yes you should eligible. If you make the top ten, we’ll need you to verify your age by scanning a copy of your passport. Otherwise, it won’t be much of an issue.

Q. I don’t know how to dance, can you help me?

A. I would say, if you’re good at Dance Dance Revolution, you have a decent chance of winning this. Even if you’re not good at DDR, dancing is like anything else in life, practice, patience, persistence. Q. If there are 5 people in the video, do they all get their own individual prize if the video is chosed as one of the top 3? if a video wins the grand prize with 5 people, does all 5 people get backstage passes?

A. A group can have a maximum of five members. If that group wins one of the prizes, each member receives the prize including tickets and backstage access.

Q. If i have a friend in only part of the video doing part of the dance, will she still be qualified for the prize?

Q. what if i have a friend dancing for only 15 seconds in the video? and what about having another friend in the video who isn’t dancing? would they still be eligible for the prizes?

A. Each member of the group has to be in the entire video to qualify. No subbing or tagging people in. This isn’t wrestling folks.

Q. what about having a friend in the video who isn’t dancing? like if she is doing something in the background?

A. Sorry the production crew doesn’t count as a member of the group so they won’t receive any of the prizes. Might I suggest a tripod or a stack of books to hold the camera.

Q. What if you live in a city that the wondergirls won’t perform in? Would you maybe just receive the autographed goodies and then another contestant would get the ticket?

Q. what if you get first runner-up and you already bought a ticket?

A. You can give the tickets to a friend, family member, or Pay It Forward. The backstage passes have no cash value. The concert tickets are yours to keep or do whatever you want with them.

Q. how are we suppose to send you a parental consent that we got their permission to do this contest?

A. We originally plan to provide consent forms to the under 18 dancers from the top ten semi-finalists since we won’t be doing anything with the videos that didn’t make the top 10. But since so many people are asking for it, you can download the parental consent form here.
