At the age of 12, Sun Mi’s love for singing and dancing eventually turned her into a JYP trainee, where she trained alongside future Wonder Girls Sun Ye and So Hee. Despite her successful and busy career, she continues to attend school and has no plans on giving up on her academic goals.

In June 2008, Sun Mi was rushed to a medical center because she was having trouble breathing. Later, it was revealed that the cause of her hyperventilation was stress and fatigue. As you may have noticed, her bubbly humor is quite infectious, but underneath her lighthearted exterior also lies an extremely focused and ambitious person. Her medical emergency is a strong reminder that beyond working hard, we also need to take care of ourselves with humor and positivity. Fighting, Sun Mi!

Under all of the glitz and the glamor, Sun Mi is the quintessential girl next door—the one who can turn your frown very upside down. On her down time, she prefers to retreat to the solace of the cozy indoors and likes to snuggle up to read one of her favorite sci-fi/horror novels. And that’s what’s so great about her: beyond her beauty and her talent, she is a refreshingly real role model. Sun Mi may be part of an iconic pop group, but at the end of the day, she is still very much a silly, creative and imaginative young woman, and those are all qualities that resonate with many, if not all, young girls.

Alien? lol!


The final Wonder Girl. She’s really cute. I never would have guessed she’s one of the youngest.

Have been wondering… Why is Sun Mi known as alien? I mean she loves the earth, “save the world” sort of thing. But alien comes to destroy the earth… lol! Why on earth would I ask such question? Becoming weird our baby girl Sun Mi.
