Utada’s been out in full force these past few weeks to get herself known in mainstream America. Island Def Jam (Utada’s American record label) sent us this cool little video of what Utada’s been doing out in LA—during the Grammys! With four weeks left to go until the release of This Is The One, Utada is out there making lots of friends — and new fans!

It’s great to see major radio stations like 102.7 KIIS- FM and K-Love 107.5 FM actively talking with her. You can tell she’s working hard, maybe getting a little frazzled, but definitely hanging in there. Personally, I think she looks great with the short hair look. I think “sassy” is the word I’m looking for!

Remember, her name is “Utada,” not “You-tada.” When in doubt, say it like, “Obama. Utada.” She’ll thank you for getting it right! ^_^

Meanwhile across the US, “Come Back To Me” has been getting airplay in San Diego, Philly, Phoenix, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and even in Honolulu! We’re anxiously awaiting the music video for “Come Back To Me” as it leaves the final rounds of post production.

i so really hope she does well here. and i hope she isnt overworking herself through all the promo work. Aishiteru Hikki! she was the reason i became interested in Jpop (and then eventually i got into Kpop) Gambatte Utada!!!

i am definitely going to buy her album when it comes out ^^

I heard she was on one of the Sacramento stations. ugh and i missed it. I hope she gets some Bay Area play time.. maybe 99.7!

Was BoA at the Grammys?


Utada has the potential to do good but she’s not trying.


BoA is more mainstream but Utada can speak english.

i dont think so. BoA is working with a bunch of famous celebs shes been on MTV iggy and theres lots of support for her from her fans. she already surpassed Utada in sales in Japan. plus she has her Korean fans too.


Meh def jams or not, it’s still not as well promoted as it should be.


I’m glad she’s getting more publicity with this album because the first one didn’t get any at all. I guess this is what happens when you sign with Def Jam. LOL


The video should come out soon. It’s almost March!

Just try to pronounce her name with a Japanese accent raspberry


She doesn’t like to be called YOU-ta-da. Her name is pronounced ooo-ta-da.

I guess o-ba-ma is a bit closer to how you actually pronounce it but still not quite right.

I’m not really an expert on Japanese linguistics, but that’s what I gathered from meeting her.

Ahh! im so glad she’s doing all of these interviews and getting a bunch of exposure before her album is released. She’s been so funny if all of these interviews and video postings. Utada so awesome!


wat she mean by obama is the way u pronounce the name, its pronounce with a O, when pronouncing her name, like otada, not youtada, thats why! xD i just love that part when she say that lolz i knew that shw won’t like it when ppl pronounce her name wrong! jeez it piss me off too lolz
