(That’s to-RABU-ru, for those unfamiliar with Japanese pronunciation) There’s nothing all that special or groundbreakingly original about to-LOVE-ru’s genre (harem romantic comedy) or its relationship dynamics, or even its content - heck, it’s probably one of the most generic manga in publication - but what does make it special is the entire package. From the fantastic art to the charming character designs, the fun energy to the lovably familiar situations, to-LOVE-ru stands proudly and unabashedly atop the mountain of school-life harem romantic comedy manga out there.

to-LOVE-ru centers around the love triangle of Yuuki Rito, your typical nondescript boy with a penchant for bloody noses around sexy women. He’s in love with his classmate Sairenji Haruna, the supernice studious type, but never seems to be able to confess to her, as some natural disaster or stray meteorite always seems to get in the way. One day he finally works up the nerve to confess again, but just as he bellows out his heartfelt declaration of love, in comes Lala Deviluke, the runaway princess of alien planet Deviluke who landed in Rito’s tub the previous night while he was taking a bath. “Ok, let’s get married!

Ever want to confess to this awesomely adorable and perfect girl, then accidentally confess to a totally different girl, who’s also awesomely adorable and perfect, just in a different way? And have her say yes? Then, through the next 140+ chapters, continue to pick up new admirers along the way with little effort but just being yourself, all of which are different from each other but all perfect 10’s from head to toe?

Ah geez, I wish I were Rito…
