We’re just days away from the KRAZY! Cosplay Party and Contest in New York City! This Saturday, Japan Society will host the KRAZY! Cosplay Party and Contest to celebrate the opening of the the exhibition “KRAZY! The Delirious World of Anime + Manga + Video“. The exhibit, party and contest are all included with tickets for this Saturday, March 28. Contestants will be automatically entered into two contests: the KRAZY! Cosplay Live Contest and then automatically into the KRAZY! Online Cosplay Contest. Ningin updates for the event: 1. New Ningin blogger Michael Latorre will be photographing all the contestants for the Online Contest, 2. Lan Nguyen won’t be able to attend as a judge as originally planned (T_T), and 3. yours truly will be MC’ing the Live Contest (^_^)!

Judges will be Elizabeth and India of World Cosplay Summit Team USA and representatives of Japan Society. Music from DJ VDRK and a special performance by Reni singing in Harajuku and Akihabara style.

Tickets are only $10 in advance here! Tickets at the door will be $15.
Sign-up for the Costume Contest is from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. There will be a changing rooms available for contestants.
Non-cosplayers are welcome to attend the event, but you still have to buy a ticket!
Refreshments will be served. (I personally double-checked this.)
Japan Society is located at 333 East 47th Street, btwn 2nd and 1st Ave, in New York City.

Ticket holders get free admission to the KRAZY! exhibit from 11am-5pm. The KRAZY! exhibition features original manga artwork, a manga library, classic video games and anime clips of “Akira”, “Super Dimension Fortress Macross”, and “Paprika”.

Prizes for Live Contest provided by Kinokuniya Bookstore:
1st Place: $200 gift certificate to Kinokuniya Bookstore
2nd Place: $100 gift certificate to Kinokuniya Bookstore
3rd Place: $50 gift certificate to Kinokuniya Bookstore
Contest Rules (READ ME!!!):
In order to compete in the KRAZY! Cosplay Contest you must have a costume that fits into one of the following categories:
- Anime/Manga/Film/US Comics
- Videos Games
- Original/Other
No store-bought or rented costumes will be eligible to participate. Contestants must appear in some form of legitimate costume. Japan Society staff reserves the right to determine what actually constitutes a legitimate costuming effort. Store bought props and/or pieces are allowed. You may enter as a group. For a winning group there will only be one prize, and the group leader receives the prize.

After the Party and Live Contest, Ningin will be hosting the Online Cosplay Contest. YOU vote for the best cosplayer! Winner of the Online Contest will receive a gift bag of anime DVDs from Manga Entertainment. Not only that, but YOU can win just for voting too! One lucky voter in the Online Contest will win a copy of the newly released Blu-Ray edition of “Akira” from Bandai Entertainment. Stay tuned for more details!
