Yes, it’s true. I check Priscilla Ahn’s blog once a week and wish she would write more often or make an RSS feed or something. She blogs in spurts then goes offline, and when she left to tour Europe, I thought for sure I’d get to read more stuff from her. (She should be in Amsterdam right about now.) Especially after she made Episode 1 of her video blog from the UK… But *sigh* nothing in March… She came back a little in April, but just a little! More »

Not only am I a woman that really appreciates beer, but I am a woman who loves boxing. This Saturday’s Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight will be the ultimate beer/boxing lovefest for me. Line, up boys! ….okay I was just kidding, I didn’t mean really line up. No, really. Just sit down and enjoy this blog post. The PM love letter can wait. Pacquiao vs. Hatton, can’t. More »
To be fair, I am all for Asian actors getting meatier non-martial arts/prostitute roles in Hollywood these days, but just not this one. My most despised actress Zhang Ziyi has a movie called “The Horsemen” that is being released this week. It also stars Dennis Quaid, who apparently is no longer an A-list actor since he’s forced to star alongside this shameless ho.

Lots of interesting news for today so I’m posting more than my usual four. Here’s a game where the goal is to date disfigured girls. Talk about messed up. This probably says something about how messed up Japanese culture has become. Of course watch this game become really popular too.

There are two things I love almost more than life itself: Beer and Hello Kitty. A recent joint venture between German beer company Beck’s and Sanrio has combined both my loves to make Hello Kitty Beer — or rather, the Hello Kitty edition of Beck’s beer. Given my undying love for oat soda, I am by no means at risk of a shortage of reasons to drink. Hello Kitty beer however, will prevent any sort of shortage, should that day tragically arrive. More »

Oh man. I don’t know what goes on inside the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC). It’s supposedly a maximum security prsion in Cebu, Philippines. But a group dance to Big Bang’s “Lies” and then going straight into “Tell Me” by Wonder Girls?! That’s doing hard time?! Most people know this prison for their famous Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance video. WonderFuls know the CPDRC for the Wonder Girls’ “Nobody” dance video. Now WonderBanging?! Just how far will the CPDRC go?! More »

When I was asked to do this daily feature, I made a conscious decision to not focus too much on celebrity news, other than scandals of course. Seems that a lot of Asian news is dominated by what the latest Asian celeb is doing. On occasion I’ll pick some non scandal celeb stuff to feature, but I try not to. It’ll depend on how unique the story is. Take this Simpson style rendering of the girl group Kara. It’s different and it’s cool. So check it out!

Really big photo day today. At the time of this writing, over 300 which is twice the norm. Quickly scanning through everything there were a few that immediate jumped out at me. Take this one for example; I had to stare for a few seconds to figure out what it was. I have a better idea now but still can’t figure out where he ends and she begins. Bonus: it’s another celeb controversy. Click through to find out what the scandal is about.

Many learned about Do As Infinity through the anime Inuyasha and the creative trio quickly became a top choice for Jpop/Jrock bands. After a few good years they disbanded on September 29, 2005 and we were astonished to be left without any more of their great music. More »

Such a beautiful weekend so far. I was tempted to stay outside all day but couldn’t ditch my obligation to find the best articles for my dear Ningin readers. Today’s news somewhat makes up for my sacrifice with lots of scandalous news. First we have finger pointing with money involved. Seems that certain SeeYa members are unhappy about their paychecks.

The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival kicks off Thursday nite, April 30, with one of Ningin’s film favorites CHILDREN OF INVENTION. Directed by Tze Chu, COI has been garnering praise film festival after film festival. No doubt you can expect it to be showing at a theater near you after it’s incredible festival run. So Yong Kim’s endearing TREELESS MOUNTAIN will be the centerpiece spotlight film, and the Oscar-winning Japanese film DEPARTURES will close the festival. In between those great films will be over 175 other features, shorts and documentaries showcasing the best Asian cinematic talent. More »

Took awhile for me to find something that’s good enough to pass the Sarah Kim favorites test today. Weekends have been really slow so far. But this is only my second weekend doing this so I can say for certain. This photo of a guy raving with his mouth caught my attention. Click through to Danny Choo’s site and watch the video, it’s so awesome!
