Hosted by MC Gosha of SunRiseFellow and Uzuhi, this concert at the Mean Fiddler turned out to be quite the delight. With 6 bands performing and going straight into the late night, it was a long journey into sounds that both soothed and pummeled all your senses. The first of what is to be many local concerts by SunRiseFellow went off almost without a hitch, but what concert doesnt encounter hitches? Due to some technical issues caused by the venue the first band, Noirceur, had to cut their set short, but were given a second chance later in the night and showed that technical issues can be kicked in the arse and put on a stellar performance. The night also featured the dance trio known as Ms. Shinsekai, three beautiful ladies who wooed the crowd between performances.

MC Gosha loves rice so much he never leaves home without it.
The Bands
Noirceur
A very young band that is making strides and winning over alot of younger audience and even the older audience as well. Once you hear lead singer’s Narina’s voice you will be transported to a deep emotional place much like a noir movie. It is very hard to describe the music as it clearly incorporates alot of different styles. Deep bass grooves and heavy guitar licks added with an enchanting voice and all backed by an uplifting drumbeat, its as if the music is seeping into all your pores.

Small Mountain Path
They thought themselves how to play and it shows as their sound is pure raw emotion and follows its own path. They arent afraid to experiment with their sounds and it lends to their originality which is very fresh and never gets old when you listen to them. With a punk and funk tone to their songs, its hard to not get into the groove right from the start.

Suaka
Even if one is never started, you can see it in the eyes of the listeners when this band starts performing, it just screams Mosh Pit! This band puts such a heavy and punk sound that its like a tornado coming to town leaving a wake of destruction in its path, in some cases you do want to go hide under the table when the sensation takes over people who start the pit up. A treat is watching lead Rully play his Indonesian drums and then jump into an amazing guitar intro which just seems to go hand in hand.

JotkaRock
A true punk band with a kicking garage sound, this band’s lead may be on the short side but he isnt afraid to joke about it and proves it when he sings with a very powerful voice. It is also that no fear attitude that makes them not afraid to take a step back from the heavy and belt out a ballad or two.

The Royal Lowkick Manah
A band with such a distinct sound that includes garage, punk, surfer roots, however at one point or another you get a feel there is some Hendrix in there somewhere. They aim to trash the floor and thats exactly what they do, make you mosh and trash and stomp the floor as if it were on fire. Very loud, very aggressive and in your face one second then the next you can sent on a groovy ride on the fret rollercoaster.

Firesign
This is heavy metal, that is the true description I can give this band. Haunting and loud vocals from Aya backed with a sound that ecompasses metal from the 80s to now, will surely thrill the spine and cause the head to bang in rhythm. Members from a certain other bands couldnt contain themselves after a few songs a mosh pit was brought forth and many partook. This was a feast for the eyes and ears.
