Last night I went to the premiere midnight screening of Fast and Furious 4, and holy sh*t was it awesome. Let’s face it, the last two weren’t such a let down that I had completely given up on the franchise but with the new direction of director Justin Lin, this movie doesn’t fail to impress.

The storyline opens up with a killer action scene of how Toretto (Vin Diesel) knows Han (Sung Kang), setting the tone for the rest of the movie. After 5 years since their last encounter, leads Brian (Paul Walker) and Toretto are seen living separate lives which are about to collide as Toretto is forced to come back to face his demons due to a cold blooded murder. The dynamic duo are then forced to work together to avenge their dearly departed friend in addition to taking down the bad guy, pimping out rides and getting the girl.

To say the least, I loved the movie. While my expectations weren’t that high to begin with, it’s safe to say that this is the best of the four. Not only are the cars faster, the girls hotter and the storyline better, the combination of romance, revenge and action with a side of twist completely blows your mind and will leave you pumped and craving more. Half the theater ended up showing off their cars in the parking lot. Go figure.

In addition, Justin Lin helps out the Asian American community by casting quite a few AA actors/actresses for the movie. While they were minor parts, you definitely see a few familiar faces like Liza Lapira from TV series NCIS, Ron Yuan from Prison Break, Roger Fan and Jimmy Lin from Finishing the Game in addition to a few others. Justin Lin also includes some apop from DBSK – Rising Sun.

If you’re wondering what the negatives were, there really are none. While some of the action scenes were over exaggerated at times, you don’t pay attention to it because the movie is just that good. Nuff said.

So if you’re sitting at home now, go watch this movie. I give it a 10 out of 10. And I could care less for cars and racing.
