Superglorious presented a the spectacular Electric Makossa concert at the famous Webster Hall in downtown NYC. A night that seemed to be stuck in the awesome 80s with lots of style, funk, and groove. Although there was a slight detour with the excellence of one of my favorite bands also performing, it all seemed to click together from beginning to end. On a day of heavy rain it seemed like it would be a slow night, but it didnt keep the crowd from coming out, and like any night at Webster Hall, it got packed relatively quick. I arrived at the venue pretty early which was good as the door people didnt seem to know what their left hand was doing from their right hand and there was a bit of difficulty getting in. It was my first time at the Studio at Webster Hall and it was a pretty good space which ended up being alot louder than I expected it would be yet the noise insulation is top notch as stepping out of the place would mean you couldnt hear all the heavy beats happening inside.

Turbotronics
The first band of the night hails from Brooklyn, NY and they started off the night with 80s style rock, that got the place grooving. The lead singer’s 80s glasses reminded me of all those cool 80s tv shows where the main hero never leaves home without them. With enertaining songs which were very humourous and themed on many sexual innuendos, I found myself laughing half of the time, but definitely would like to see this band again.

Echostream
I cant help to be biased for this band as they are not what I considered one of the best bands I’ve ever seen, but also a band I personally know. From New Jersey but constantly touring the East Coast, this is a band that you will love if your enjoy heavy deep and haunting music the likes of radiohead. The vocals flow in harmony with the music yet at the same time in contrast with it, this is one band you have to see live in order to really experience their sounds.

Miss Michigan
They appeared to be a rock band that came from the planet Krypton, but are from Brooklyn, NY, they bedazzled the crowd with heavy rock and they didnt back down from there. No, they sent the audience into the stratosphere and a mini mosh began at one point. The guitarist played so intensely that at one point he broke the string on his guitar, which sorta explained the reason he had a backup waiting! This band was the surprise of the night for me and I really enjoyed their music as I tend to like harder sounds with tea.

Freezepop
Freezepop has garnered alot of attention lately mainly cause of their track being in certain rock games. But those that love 80s music know this band through and through and their fans seemed to have flooded the place the second they came on, not even my Moses skills were able to let me get through for better shots. Their music is like the last scene from revenge of the nerds, completely pop and synthetic dance beats which make you want to shake it, jump it, but hopefully not break it. With dual keyboard guitars you kinda get the idea this band is really out there, but are extremely fun to watch performing.
