Texas lawmaker says that Asian-Americans should change their Asian names into American names to make polling easier on the government. Also, because the Asian names are too hard to pronounce. These two articles talk about this incident.

With this kind of blog entry, I want to be objective, I want to write in an unbiased manner. Some are saying that the democrats are overreacting with this thing. I don’t think so. It was a racist comment. She thinks Chinese names, Korean names, and other Asian names are hard to pronounce? I’m sorry, but there are other nationalities out there who have difficult names, but she’s not addressing them. I mean, yes, Korea, China, Taiwan, and etcetera have a lot of names that are the same, but dude, these are our family names! Our ancestral names! I don’t know about China, but I know Koreans follow a method to naming their children, especially the sons, by this family book of some sort. To tell anybody to change their name like that is just utter bullshite!

Normally, I usually let a lot of racial slurs and comments against any race slide by (like that whole Holee Chow t-shirt thing), but this takes the cake for me. I’m simply appalled by this turn of event!
