Couple of days ago, I left my bedroom and headed for the computer room, where I had to pass my mother who was watching the Korean news. Before I entered the computer room, my mother suddenly asked, “Do you go to these places on the Internet to talk about suicide?” I scowled at her and said, “Mum, I don’t bother to go to those sites, much less search for them!” Right after that, I had an inkling that suicides must be popping up all over Korea again, but I didn’t really pay attention to it until I saw this article.

I know these kind of stuff aren’t new. In fact, I think something like this occur every year here in South Korea to make the news. However, I find it a shame that these people think that they have no way out, think there are no help available for them to meet up with each other from all over and commit suicide together. It also doesn’t help that South Korea is a fairly small nation (at least in comparison to United States), is one of the most wired country in the world, and has cheap public transportation systems (KTX, buses, and etcetera), that it helps these people get together easily. A shame, really.

On the other hand, I can’t believe my mother would remotely think I’d bother my time at these online-suicide-get-togethers! I mean, really, Mother! Have some faith in me!

.....*tear* too sad

Sad thing is… if these people never met or talked to each other, they may never even of committed suicide.  The support they get from each other and possibly a little of peer pressure gives them enough “courage"/initiative to follow through with suicide.

I hear a lot more stories about suicide in Japan. And I remember reading about some mass suicide in the Philippines because the kids thought it was cool.

Suicide seems like a popular subject here. I guess because there’s so many teenagers on Ningin?

that’s sad, suicide is no joke. even though our lives can be sad and depressing at most times doesn’t mean suicide is the only solution.

One of my uncles, a distant one, committed suicide. We have a pretty big family and I didn’t know him well, but it still affected me pretty badly. So I can say for sure that you hurt your family if you take your own life.

A friend of mine said that there was this japanese television or website that teaches you how to kill yourself in different ways. Weird, I’ve never seen it though.

I don’t understand why people would just end their life like that. I wonder if they ever think about they pain that they’re loved ones would feel like. I remember how in my hometown, Fresno, California there were like around 9 to 11 I think teeanage suicides among my Hmong ethnicity.

It’s just so sad, ending a life like that, I think a life is worth much more than killing it.=[

It’s probably making it worst to the people thinking about suicide when others judge them or think them weak.

It’s easy to judge unless you’ve been in their shoes. Then it might be different. Not that I condone suicide…

It makes me want to cry whenever I read about teenage suicide. I know someone that died that way too :(

I don’t like how some people joke about depression and suicide. These aren’t funny things.

sigh..agreed with MoLteaser

suicide is becoming quite frequent nowadays. . .too scary…

This makes me so sad to read it. I know someone who committed suicide too…

I think there’s few people in this world who doesn’t know someone that committed suicide. That’s how common it is.

how sad and depressing.-_- your story reminds me of the time my dad asked if i had any friends after that Virginia tech massacre. i was kinda surprised.

^
I agree with you that suicide is a bad option. But I was in a bad place during my life once. There’s a difference between thinking about suicide and doing it.

And you know some kids don’t have parents or a caring family. That’s one of the biggest problem of suicides.

i certainly don’t approve of suicide (not that anyone cares of what I approve or not) and are just disappointed and when I hear these kind of news.

Dissapointed because the person isn’t capable of finding another solution to their problem and mostly agnry because for me, suicide is selfish.

Yes, it may bring end the pain that the person is suffering but in place of that, the person is bringing pain to their family and friends and all those around who acre for them! It’s an absolute sin to their parents who have raised them to that age and now have them ripped away through their own selfish act. Sure some may argue that those who suicide may not have anyone who love them or mourn for them hence the suicide but they never know! There may be a person out there who is crying secretly because of their death. GAH! I’m frustrated just writing this.

Life is hard but it’s what you make of it.

A life is so precious! I know things can get hard, but nothing is worth killing yourself over.

That’s a somewhat graphic photo there…

It’s really sad. i have my own little theory that as we advance (technologically, etc.) further, our lives or our perspectives on life become more miserable.

I’ll like to know what that theory is ^^

Isn’t there like a suicide club in Japan or something?

i wanna say that was a movie...but there could be something like that in real life. how tragic

We’ve all had our ups and downs, but it’s sad that there are ppl who think this is all they can do to solve problems.  There is so much more to live for.
