Couple of days ago, I left my bedroom and headed for the computer room, where I had to pass my mother who was watching the Korean news. Before I entered the computer room, my mother suddenly asked, “Do you go to these places on the Internet to talk about suicide?” I scowled at her and said, “Mum, I don’t bother to go to those sites, much less search for them!” Right after that, I had an inkling that suicides must be popping up all over Korea again, but I didn’t really pay attention to it until I saw this article.

I know these kind of stuff aren’t new. In fact, I think something like this occur every year here in South Korea to make the news. However, I find it a shame that these people think that they have no way out, think there are no help available for them to meet up with each other from all over and commit suicide together. It also doesn’t help that South Korea is a fairly small nation (at least in comparison to United States), is one of the most wired country in the world, and has cheap public transportation systems (KTX, buses, and etcetera), that it helps these people get together easily. A shame, really.

On the other hand, I can’t believe my mother would remotely think I’d bother my time at these online-suicide-get-togethers! I mean, really, Mother! Have some faith in me!

Moms worry, that’s what they do. I’m sure my mom would ask me if she saw that story.

gosh that really is sad. those kind of forums are suppose to help people get THROUGH those thoughts, not act them out :(

Teenage suicide is a pretty big problem. I think like there’s one every 3 mins in the US…

My mom constantly worries about me killing myself too...I joke saying it’s going to happen anytime because I’m so tired of her asking me.


*Sigh* It makes me so sad to read news like this, but it’s so true how many kids think about suicide.
