Meet Ningin’s KRAZY! Online Cosplay Contest winner Ali Bader! The fifteen year old cosplayer from Ohio travelled to New York City to compete in the KRAZY! Cosplay Contest and Party at Japan Society. Ali took a break from writing for quizilla.com and horseback riding to talk about the six days it took her to arrive on stage in New York City.
How long have you been cosplaying? Have you competed before the KRAZY! Cosplay Contest?
This was my first real cosplay. I did one in our local mall one time but it wasn’t as big or as cool as KRAZY!
What made you decide on “Temari” Naruto? Have you cosplayed as any other characters?
Temari has always been one of my favorite girls from Naruto next to several of the senseis. At our local mall I went as shippuden Sakura.
Tell us a little about the creation of your costume. How much was homemade or off the shelf?
We only had about 6 days to make my costume because that’s when we found out about it. We made the fan (all of it), and we also made the costume. The things off the shelf were the shoes, headband, the top and skirt but the top and skirt were massively altered. We bought them from diffferent places. The fishnets were from Macy’s and were cut to fit right, the skirt from Old Navy and the shirt from Kmart.
Any other characters in the future?
I would like to go as some other characters. Maybe Ino or Rikku or a different character…
What’s the next cosplay event you’re getting ready for?
The New York Anime Festival. I will most likely go as Temari again.
Do you have any anime or manga favorites?
I like Bleach, Naruto, Fruits Basket, Inuyasha, Skip Beat, and many others.
Did you get a chance to see the KRAZY! Exhibit?
Yes, I did get a chance to see the KRAZY! Exhibit and I thought it was really cool. I didn’t get a chance to spend lots of time at it because the contest started but it was really cool.
Congratulations again to Ali! Her goodie bag from Manga Entertainment is in the mail right now. We can’t wait to see what Ali will come up with next!
KRAZY! Cosplay Contest in New York City The Delirious World of Anime + Manga + Video is still open in New York City! The exhibition will close on June 14, 2009.
