Jackie Chan is back in the news this week without the explosive social commentary. This time it’s all entertainment. (Tho I personally found the responses to his social commentary to be great entertainment.) Jackie is signed on to star in and co-direct his 100th film — “Chinese Zodiac”.
Described as a treasure hunt movie, as the title suggests Jackie will have to solve puzzles revolving around the Chinese zodiac. Supposedly the story has been in the works for six years and will finally see the light of day and begin filming this fall. Before then, Jackie will be shooting “Kung Fu Kid” in the summer — the dreaded Will Smith remake of “The Karate Kid”.
Stanley Tong will co-direct “Chinese Zodiac” with Jackie. Stanley has directed past films starring Jackie like “Rumble in the Bronx” and the third and fourth “Police Story” films. “Chinese Zodiac” is scheduled to shoot on location in Vienna, Hong Kong, Beijing, and the infamous Kazakhstan. (Borat cameo, please!!!)
