Magnolia Pictures‘ specialized genre distributer, Magnet Releasing, has acquired the rights to the epic, historical Chinese film The Warlords, which stars Jet Li, Andy Lau, and Takeshi Kaneshiro.
The story revolves around a group of bandits consisting of 2 bandit leaders (Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro) and an ex-general (Jet Li), who are the main focus points of the movie. The three decide to make an oath to become blood brothers and swear their loyalty to one another until death. But admist the war, politics and love starts to tear their relationship apart. This summary really doesn’t do the movie justice so when it comes out late this summer, be sure to pick it up.
The Warlords was directed by Peter Chan who won Best Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards for the film, and the film itself received seven other awards including Best Actor (Jet Li), Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume and Makeup Design, Best Sound Design, Best Visual Effects, and the big one-Best Film. Now that’s a pretty impressive list. With the actors and the awards for visuals, this movie is filled with plenty of stunning visuals for both genders.
