SECRET IDENTITIES gets a West Coast introduction on Saturday, May 30! The entire SI editor staff of Jeff Yang, Parry Shen, Keith Chow, and Jerry Ma will fly out to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles to present and autograph SECRET IDENTITIES. Since AVA is back with a new stage name (formerly Lee Jung Hyun, Hyonnie) people have been highly anticipating her new MV; Crazy. The mv is supported with a lot of different themes that people like such as leather, water, dark (Rainism, Disturbia type feel) and contrasting with bright beauty scenes. The SHINee Romeo roses handed out last week haven’t even wilted yet and the netizens (people like you and me) have already pointed out the Juliette’s flaws. Ningin Blogger DavidHou wrote earlier today about NY1 not including BoA in their snap poll of which Asian artists will be the first Asian pop star. Offhand, I can see why this would be a slight against BoA. However, in speaking with a senior SM official today, the truth is that SM asked that BoA not be included. I’ll admit that as a grown woman, I don’t cry much. Ever. Except for when Charice Pempengco performed her latest single, “Note to God,” on Monday’s Oprah show. I shed tears not to mourn the loss of teenage songstress dreams past, but because Charice just gets to you that way. Apparently, she gets to Oprah that same way as her performance caused Oprah’s waterworks to start running. I’m not bitter about not receiving roses or sexual favors from boys 5 years younger than me. Wait, did I just say that? I meant, I’m not hating on SHINee for not personally delivering me a rose. Their Romeo single leaked, and I gave it a listen. Initially, with the title I was fearing that it’d be yet another Korean ballad that I’d classify as “DO NOT WANT” — I’m no fan of Korean ballads. Sorry guys. Fortunately for me, Romeo is rather upbeat. Unfortunately for me, it sounds like part 2 of their “Love Like Oxygen” song. While we do need oxygen, too much of it is not a good idea. This past Saturday I was able to experience the awesomeness that is known as Epik High. I Waited hours in line, with my feet aching and feeling very tired and sleepy. But when Epik High showed up on their bus around 5, the crowd got excited and so did I. This concert was my first concert and probably one of the best I’ll ever attend. More »

The House of Blues was a sold out event. A sea of Asians lined up outside the venue for what was expected to be one rocking good time on Saturday night. And surely it was. It was my first time doing the whole press access sha-bang, so I didn’t know what to expect, what I’ll do is I’ll give you a concert experience from a fresh, new, perspective. On the get go, I didn’t have to wait in any lines and I was free to roam around anywhere before the show started. Checking in with my ID was really the only gripe , and required further authentication from the Admin here, but I suppose due to the name of the venue its fair. More »

Everyone knows that most Indian movie equals song and dance with some melodramatic crying thrown in between. Twice now I’ve seen a last minute Saturday night push by someone to make it into the top 3. This time it’s ryu00 that knocked out Choochi. (The first was on 5/3.) Perhaps Choochi was being nice and let ryu00 win since she already won last week? YG’s latest girl group 2NE1 finally made their stage debut after two weeks on the May 17th episode of SBS Inkigayo. Not only did they build three different sets for the performance, they also used body mount cameras that were never used before in this type of program. More »
