Given the recent Starburst “contradiction” commercials, there’s reason to believe that the candies contradict themselves being solid, yet juicy. In fact, they even taste good. Scottish Koreans will vouch for that in Starburst’s most recent commercial. Having just arrived from vacation in central Texas, I’m lead to question: Are Scottish Koreans, a commercial-worthy contradiction? A week ago I, a big city Asian non-rodeo fan, was the only Asian in sight at a rodeo held in a city with a population less than my high school. (read: SUPER SMALL.) AND I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Where’s my commercial, Starburst? What do you guys think are contradictions worthy of a Starburst commercial? (Besides me being at a small-town Texas rodeo, of course.) More »
THE LAST AIRBENDER teaser trailer is now out… The only action I got out of this is muttering “Ang ain’t white” to myself. Other than that, this trailer’s a real yawner. I see more impressive martial arts from 1970s movies on TV during Sunday afternoons. Someone might say it’s just the teaser trailer and not a whole fight scene, but the teaser trailer is supposed to get me excited, right? And this really doesn’t. More »
After all the madness fighting alongside Nazi’s and the Japanese, the Girls Generation take it easy to do some mothering on their new TV show. There are 6 parts, so be sure to continue after the jump. In the meantime, the cover of the new mini-album has been corrected to much relief of fans. More »
Ningin add a dozen or so sites to our Social News system recently. So there’s a lot more stories to shift through. Hoc said he was going to post a list sometime.
On to the favorites for today… The magic of Minnovation doesn’t end with the cover. Here’s the rest of them. I keep thinking I’ve seen something like this somewhere but can’t place it. Oh yea…Cirque Soleil! Love those shows ^^
If you missed this mornings radio show with BoA, todays subject was fetishes and spanking… You can add this along with her magic stick. and tasering djs. On the show, they seemed to have a lot of fun spanking each other. They do some weird stuff on these radio shows, and this is one of them, but hey if BoA likes it. More »
If you think Girls Generation has had enough buzz already, we’ve only just begun. There’s so much going on, one can hardly keep up. Netizens In Korea with their keen eye were quick to notice the cover had Japanese-like war planes along with Nazi crosses. I say “like” due to the fact there is a strong likeness, but the artist tried to alter them. Apparently the alterations were not enough, and was not thought through, according to the majority opinion of fans. More »
From ZiggyTek Blog: Looks like Amazon will have another competitor in the crowded eBook reader market. AUO, a display manufacturer, unveiled what looks like a cross between the Kindle 2 and the Sony eReader PRS 700 recently at a trade show in Taiwan.
It has the same 6-inch black and white screen with 600 x 800 pixel resolution as the Kindle 2 but also offers touch screen capabilities similar to that of the Sony PRS 700. More »
Looks like someone messed up here. Whatever the excuses or reasons I don’t think you can get away with using a plane that even remotely resembles a Japanese Zero Fighter on this SNSD album cover. It’s amazing what details and goofs get missed in the production of an album!
Every now and then you’re going to see posts appearing on the Ningin blogs from other blogs. Right now, these blog posts are just from Ningin’s sister sites but later on we could very well start syndicating from sites outside of our network. The idea is that, while our sister sites may focus on different subjects, there will be overlap from time to time. When there are overlaps, we’ll cross promote them across the network, like we did yesterday with the Chinese-Obama-Blackberry post from Ziggytek. More »
The most recent issue of Entertainment Weekly is also a special double issue that features the “Summer Must List” in addition to its normal entertainment coverage. While going through the 25+ pages of must movies, tv shows, books, music, and games I was kinda shock to find only 2 Asians people of the 115+ people and things profiled. While I don’t have perfect recall on this, there are usually 5-6 Asians people or Asian related things on this list in previous years. So for all the progress that Asians are making in Western mainstream media, it would seem that the wave quite hasn’t hit the shore yet. More »

From ZiggyTek Blog: Chinese cell phone companies have been cloning some of the top phones in the world the past few years, including the iPhone and the Nokia N95, trying to get people to buy their knockoffs for half the price. Now, Blockberry… err…Blackberry has joined that list and with U.S. President Barack Obama as the face of their advertising campaign. More »
Happy Father’s Day! I didn’t get a chance to see my dad today but gave him a call. Anyone got any good Dad Day stories to share? Well Kotaku did a big feature on dads in RPG stories. It starts with Jecht from Final Fantasy X. It’s been awhile since I played that game, but I remember him being a mostly good if not hard dad ^^
I wasn’t sure how big a fanbase of Final Fantasy people we have on Ningin when I decided to give out these posters. Turns out, a pretty big one based on the amount of points collected this past week, 15206 in total, the most points for one week since we started this promo. Maybe we should start a Final Fantasy community? More »
