Quick note to those baseball fans out there. Tonight is the MLB 2009 All-Star game. There’s two Asians it in it this year: Ichiro Suzuki, of the Seattle Mariners, will be starting for the American League and Shane Victorino, Philadelphia Phillies, will be a reserve for the National League. The game is on FOX starting at 8pm EST or 5pm PST.
Unfortunately that’s it in terms of Asian representation in this year’s game out of the 66 or so players selected. However, both Ichiro and Victorino were voted in by the fans so they’re becoming household names. I would argue that Shin-Soo Choo, Cleveland Indians, and Johnny Damon, New York Yankees, are deserving of all star spots if this was a pure meritocracy since both are top 40 players statistically. At the very least those two are all-stars in my fantasy league!
