China’s J.A. Media Group and Bruce Lee’s family will present the world with a trilogy biopic on Bruce Lee.
The films will be produced by Li Chen and executive produced by Manfred Wong. The only actor that is known to star in the movie so far is Tony Leung Ka-Fai as Bruce Lee’s father. Zhang Yimou is reported to be the director of this three part biopic and the first movie will have an initial investment of approximately $7.3 million.
The first film is planned to be released on November 27, 2010 which marks the 70th anniversary of Lee’s birth. Lee’s brother, Robert, and sister, Phoebe, are planning to participate in making the film to clear any inaccuracies present in other films and books. The first of the trilogy will focus mainly on Lee’s teenage years.
Hong Kong’s government will establish a Bruce Lee Museum to also commemorate Lee’s 70th anniversary. A competition is being held for the design of the museum which will include a martial arts studio, a library, and a film studio.
For those of you who can’t wait for the biopic can watch Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story- a biopic made in 1993 featuring Jason Scott Lee as Bruce Lee.
