The trailers for 2 of the 4 planned animated Marvel comics are available.

The animation is done by Madhouse who are responsible for fantastic anime such as Trigun, Vampire Hunter D, Deathnote, Nana, and Tokyo Godfathers. The story will be written by award winning Warren Ellis who has participated in various graphic novels such as Hellblazer, Wolverine, Ironman, Ghost Rider and X-men. Marvel’s partnership with Madhouse is a way to merge western superheroes with Japan’s unique animation style.

The trailers are only test animations to show off the styles of the characters and does not represent the plot in any way.

First off is the Ironman trailer and it looks amazing. The animation is superb and the design so far looks great. Let’s hope that the quality of the trailer runs off into the actual production of the feature film.

The trailer for Wolverine on the other hand doesn’t seem as promising as the Ironman anime. Don’t get me wrong- I think the animation looks lovely and Wolverine fighting ninjas in old time Japan sounds like fun but something about the trailer did not make me go “AWESOME!” Maybe it’s Wolverine’s new look? It is kind of strange to see him with a mullet haircut. But then again, this is a test animation so maybe it might change during production.
