Taiwanese Supermodel/Actress Lin Chi-ling appeared in a Taipei court earlier this week and sued “Next Magazine” for trespassing on private property, slander, as well as threatening her privacy. Apparently the weekly tabloid published an article along with pictures of her home in 2006. This was when she was allegedly involved in a love triangle with actor Jerry Yan and Qiu Shi Kai, the son of some affluent businessman in Taiwan. The tabloid then hired a fortune teller to analyze the interior design and furniture arrangement of Lin’s home, who concluded that she had the intention of marrying the richest man in the shortest time possible. Is there such an arrangement? If there is, I need one for my apartment pronto!

Dressed in a sleeveless white dress, Lin told the court that she felt her safety and privacy threatened after they published her home pictures. She had to hire private investigators to check the house for spy cameras after the incident. She did not cry when she testified. She did look frail and scared, hoping that the male jurors would all shout in unison “guilty as charged, you privacy-invading tabloid!”. Homegirl may not know how to act in movies, but she sure knows how to do so in court. Someone hands her an Oscar now!

As expected, “Next Magazine” denied any wrongdoing and claimed that its reporters never went into Lin’s home. The magazine insisted that it was being falsely accused. Unless they settle out of court, this trial will probably go on for a while. It’s ok. I get to see what Lin wears to court — that’s probably the most exciting part of this courtroom drama.
