According to a survey conducted by a Japanese video and music chain website, Tsutaya, Namie Amuro was voted as the #1 fashion icon for 2009.

The top ten Fashion Icons of 2009 were:
1. Namie Amuro (singer)
2. Ayumi Hamasaki (singer)
3. Yukina Kinoshita (model / idol)
4. Becky (actress / talent)
5. Tsubasa Masuwaka (popteen model / gyaru mama)
6. Kaela Kimura (singer)
7. Erika Toda (actress)
8. Rinka (fashion model / singer)
9. Aragaki Yui (fashion model / actress)
10. Nozomi Sasaki (fashion model)

Amuro also took the #1 spot in several Oricon surveys this year including impressive way of life, who would you want to become? (women’s category), and fashion leader for high school girls. She was able to be in the top ten of Oricon’s coolest women, tanned beauties, good women and dramatic lives surveys landing on spots 2, 2, 5, 5 respectively.

It’s good to see Namie on top after 14 years of great music. She deserves it. With her mini-skirts, tanned skin, and platform boots it’s no wonder she was voted as the fashion icon of 2009.
