From Ziggytek: In a somewhat surprising news, a new survey says the iPhone 3GS was the top selling phone in July after its release in June. The survey, conducted by Japanese Research Company GfK’s Japanese Subsidiary, had the 32GB iPhone 3GS as the most popular phone in Japan, while the 16GB ranked 9th in contract phones. More »

I feel like if I wasn’t doing Ningin, I should start an Asian music, DVD, and memorabilia store. Hmm, maybe one day. Ok back on topic. This was a pretty intense week of EXP action with the top three winners coming down to the wire. In fact, 2nd-4th place were all within a couple hundred points of each other. But as the great Vin Diesel said, “It doesn’t matter if you win by a second or a mile, winning is winning!More »

It’s fun when everyone wins, well, mostly everyone. When I made this Paper Heart pin game, the movie was already in limited release. So most critics already had access to it and give it an early score of 63% based on 40 or so reviews. Its final score wasn’t going to deviate too much from that when this contest ended since most people already casted their vote. At closing time, the final score was 61%. It still sits at 61% 3 days later. Good for Charlene Yi and good for those that didn’t stray too far from 63%. More »

Ok, what in the freaking we-need-to-stick-an-asian-in-there mess is this!? Even my 90 year-old aunt with blurred vision can spot this photoshop disaster from her dimly lit house 10,000 miles away. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for diversity and Asians in the media. But let’s try to include an actual Asian kid in the photo shoot instead of sticking the head of one on a picture which features all Caucasian models. More »

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard received a score of 27% on Rottentomatoes. I’m kinda sadden by this. I think Jeremy Piven is an amazing actor, the trailers seemed really funny, and I have a real soft spot for stupid B-comedies. I actually thought it was going to be this year’s Tropic Thunder. Oh well, it’s not like you look for these types of movies to fulfill you intellectually, just give you some laughs when you feel like it. More »

Seems that most of you don’t have much faith in the great master of anime movies, Hayao Miyazaki. Rottentomatoes gave it a score of 95%! Let this be a lesson to those that doubted him. Not all of his movies make it to the States, but of the ones that do, they’re usually epic! Ponyo may not be his best ever, but the man lives up to a different standard of excellence where even his mediocre works are far and away better than most can put together. It’s Miyazaki’s world and we’re all just living in it. Those that have seen his movies probably would love that notion. More »

Remember when I dismissed any possible Wondergirls/Jonas Brothers hookup stories just because of the Katsuya incident? Judging on a picture of the Jonas Brothers giving Sunye cake for her birthday this week, it can probably be speculated that members from either groups are dating each other. I mean, could you blame them? They’re both young, talented, attractive people with equally attractive personalities. More »
