You have to give it up to the Japanese to be so creative with altering the original shape of watermelons. First, they offered watermelon in a square shape. In May, an enterprising farmer and his wife in Kumamoto, Japan created a heart-shaped watermelon. Apparently these two bitches did it to show their affection for each other.  It took them three years to perfect the heart shape. Talk about perseverance and dedication!

How I wish every Japanese farmer will follow these two love birds and start to express their emotions or feelings through their produce. I am sure we will get more than just heart-shaped watermelons then. I expect we will get some peen- shaped bananas (talk about maximizing the purpose of your fruit) and titty-shaped mangosteen. I am also sure there will be lunatics out there who will master the art of growing Hello Kitty-shaped honeydews too. This is the birth place of that overexposed feline bitch, after all.

Of course love comes with a price. You can get this lovely heart-shaped watermelon for 15,750 yen (or USD160). I think I am perfectly fine eating the normal shaped watermelon for now, as long as they are seedless.
