A serendipitous discovery? Uplaya.com is a scientific research facility that incorporates special technology that decrypts songs to discover their success rate potential. Given the quality example of their work, 2NE1’s Fire, Wondergirl’s Nobody and Girls Generation’s Gee all scored on top of the scales. Is this good news for record labels out there? All one has to do is click a few buttons and it will magically give the success rate of a song?

Is this bad news for us producer/songwriters out there? Have are secrets been discovered? Maybe, but I don’t think so. Just because someone knows that the color green means go, doesn’t make us doomed. There are multiple aspects of a song that make it successful. I’ve heard crap music compositions with less than stellar vocals earn Grammy awards, but have heard some amazing songs lose to the former.

I would really like to see a graph accessible to normal users that showed all the songs by past hit artists, so we can get an idea if we really want to use their services. I think there could be some truth in this and would be fun to mess around with.
