Is it because of Jaebum? Yes. Sometimes, I think Korean netizens have no life. They should learn how to get over things. What Jaebum said was very rude and offensive to gay people and Korean people, but hey, who hasn’t said that “something” was gay?
5,100 Koreans signed a petition to ban Jaebum and 2PM from all future activities. Not only this, they also signed that Jaebum should commit suicide. All this fighting can really damage 2PM’s image and future as a group. They really need their fans right now to help them get out of this trouble. Do they really need to sign a petition? Sounds sort of unnecessary to me.
If you don’t know what Jaebum did, he stated that he hated Koreans and that Korea was gay on his Myspace several years ago while he became a JYP trainee in Korea. He said it due to his troubles and hardships, especially from moving to a different country with no close family, friends or a good understanding of the language and culture. However, he immediately apologized after the picture of the Myspace comments were released. This is what JYP had to say about 2PM’s activities.
“For now, 2PM will not have any broadcasting schedules and all of their music performances have been canceled. They will only be recording and practicing dance moves for their new album.”
On Jaebum:
“Although, we feel very guilty and sorry for all the people who have been disappointed by Park Jaebum’s past mistakes, I will not be taking him out of the group. Many people have been suggesting ideas of banning Park Jaebum out of 2PM, but that will never happen. We believe that he has done something wrong, but as a whole, we do not think it is enough to be taking his dreams and goals away from him. This was not a decision made by only the JYPE staff, but it was something all of the fellow 2PM members have agreed to.”
I’m glad to know Jaebum has JYP and 2PM to back him up. I hope that everything would be sorted out so they can make a great comeback!
Editor’s Update: Jaebum has officially quit. Read about it here.
