Gang entrance exams, Thai bread-heads, a man who jumped off a boat to avoid his wife….this summer saw no shortage of strange news.

5. Entrance exams for gangsters?
Police have discovered that Japan’s largest organized crime group, the Yamaguchi-gumi, has forced its members to take an exam of some sorts to reduce costly damages that could be done by harmful members. Apparently the exam is only 12 questions long and contain questions like “What kind of activities are banned?” and “What are you required to do in all your activities?” So if you’re planning on joining the yakuza, be sure to study!

4.Traffic Violators in China beware!
Are you one of those people who has to deal with drivers who violate the right of way of pedestrians? Have no fear! Brickman is here! Retired 74 year old teacher, Yan Zhenping, decided to beat up a few cars that pass through a red light on a pedestrian crossing. His choice of weapon? A brick. He spent about three hours on the look-out for any traffic violators and ended up damaging fourteen cars. This incident garnered him enough attention and support that he eventually became a traffic warden, catching traffic violators with a camera rather than a brick.

3. Thai man makes human bread
Care for a slice of human flesh-uh…I mean bread? Thai artist Kittiwat Unarrom has found a passion for making loaves of bread look like body parts that came out of a horror movie. Unarrom has quite a talent here and makes me wonder why he hasn’t joined the horror movie business yet. Hard to believe that these faces are made up of dough, raisins, cashews, and chocolate. Despite it sounding so delicious, I think I wouldn’t be able to eat a piece of his artwork. It would be hard to place something that looks like human flesh into my mouth.

2. Indian man makes bomb threats to delay his flight
Pretend you’re a businessman and you have to get to the airport in less than five minutes. However you’re stuck in traffic. You call the airline to see if you can transfer to another flight but was denied the request. What do you do? Make a bomb threat of course! That’s what a 35 year old Indian businessman did to his airline so his flight could be delayed for him. I guess he didn’t know that the extensive security procedures that would follow would cost around $4,000 or that his cell phone would be traced by the airport. Now he has to pay the consequences.

1. Man jumps into Yangtze River to avoid nagging wife
This man is either courageous or incredibly stupid. Either way, he did something most of us would probably not think of doing to avoid excessive nagging on a boat ride - Jumping off of it. Most of us would probably cover our ears, lose the person in a crowd, or pretend to use the toilet but this man had to take it up a notch. I mean, he risked his life to avoid his wife. Makes me wonder what kind of lady she is? Hmm…
