Kids are back in school, leaves start to turn a golden hue and I’ll be on constant fire-watch because it’s still fire-season in California. Sept. 22 in the Western hemisphere marks the end of the summer. The end of the summer is hardly a reason to be sad because this only means one thing: It’s time for the Ningin End of the Summer Special! All day, we’ll be featuring our official top 5 lists of the summer in movies, music videos, pop music, live performances, covers/remixes and random acts of violence. Without further adieu, here’s my list of top 5 music videos:

Top 5 Music Videos of the Summer

1. BaO - Eat You Up. Between the original BoA song about seeing-someone-so-fine-you’d-eat-them-up and a song just about pork buns, pork buns wins. I’ve yet to come across a person who hated pork buns. This video by far, was the most entertaining video this summer.

2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll. With the passing of Michael Jackson, this video holds a lot of sentimental value for me. It hasn’t been established that the werewolf man is Michael Jackson and it was released prior to his death, but the dancing and the clothes speak volumes. The video also has a variety of things I love most in life: glitter, light-up disco dance floors and Karen O.

3. 2NE1 - Fire (Space Version). What’s cooler than a girl group of fashionistas singing in an alley? A girl group of fashionistas singing in space. Seriously, I don’t know why they even bothered with the alley.

4.G-Dragon - Heartbreaker. I’m shocked that I even have to explain myself for this one. If you must, this whole music video is more than just a music video. It’s art. The symbolism, the fashion and the fierceness all rolled into one is everything I stand for when it comes to music videos.

5. Crystal Kay feat. Kaname - After Love. This video makes my list because it’s simple and it lacks all the the bright laser-like bells and whistles of your average pop video. It’s plain, simple and full of glamour shots. It also mirrors what everyday life is like for me– champagne, satin sheets, expensive jewelry…nothing out of the ordinary, yanno?

This blog posting is part of the 2009 End of the Summer event. Other posts in this series: Movies, Dramas, Remixes & Covers, Smash Pop Hits, Live Performances, Strangest News, & Random Acts of Violence

Aw, really? This song was my jam of the summer. I <3 the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

2NE1’s Fire or SNSD’s Genie video were in my top 5 for this summer.

Yay for Crystal~
She;s awesome :D

Where is Brown Eyed Girls - Abracadabra raspberry

I get why the BoA parody was up there, but if you could only pick actual music videos, which would replace that?

Din Tai Fung is this popular pork bun/dumping restaurant in Alhambra. At least what’s what I think they’re referring to, haha.

I agree with no. 1!

^
BoA love!! smile

were’s 2pm’s again and again and i hate you

^ i didn’t think the videos for those were that good.

aww.. wheres abracadabra?

that 2NE1’S “SPACE VERSion” of FIRE is off the chain.

I loved the Bao - Eat You Up parody! I can’t believe I never saw it until now. Thank you for sharing smile

Plus of course my favorites 2NE1 & G-Dragon <3

1. BaO - Eat You Up: My school used to sell Bao buns but with the recent change in catering companies, it was taken from the menu. Now this reminds me of that. LOL

2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll: I was getting bored with this until I saw the wolf transform. I thought the parts after that were very funny.

3. 2NE1 - Fire (Space Version): Hm...I like the Street Version better. I don’t know how either versions of the video relate to the song, but I like the first one better. Very colorful though.

4.G-Dragon - Heartbreaker: His video like the one above was very colorful and it kept me distracted from the song itself, which usually after a minute I cut it off. Sorry GD, I’m not feeling the song, like the dance though.

5. Crystal Kay feat. Kaname - After Love: I was just happy that Crystal came out with another song. However, the song was okay but I wish the video could have been done better. I wasn’t too crazy with this collaboration either because I don’t really care for Chemistry but Kaname did okay.

^ A very nice review raspberry ~

I like crystal Kay, it’s rare to see a black asian singer, i think it’s awesome!

^ She’s part Korean as well so it’s amazing how she’s a Japanese artist. smile

^ I didn’t know that part, that’s cool.
