Lou Diamond Phillips couldn’t stay in this past season’s “I”m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here” jungle for long. He had much better things planned that included beating out Speidi to become crowned king of the I’m a Celebrity Jungle. This fall, he’s got a starring role on Syfy’s “Stargate Universe” as Colonel David Telford.
LDP received his big break in 1987 as Richie Valens in the movie I used to call as a whee lass, “Lalalalalalalalalalalala Bamba!” To my surprise, it’s actually just called La Bamba. Who knew? Post La Bamba, LDP continued his career with roles in shows like 24, Numb3rs, Law and Order and even provided the voice of Forge in the X-Men cartoon series. As LDP is definitely not stranger to action and sci-fi shows, it’s no wonder that he’ll be shown on Stargate Universe.
Stargate Universe is just another show part of the huge Stargate Franchise owned by MGM. If you loved Stargate Atlantis and SG-1, I have my money on you enjoying Stargate Universe. Stargate Universe follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship’s Stargate to survive. The danger, adventure and hope they find on board the Destiny will reveal the heroes and villains among them.
Stargate Universe premieres Friday, Oct. 2 9/8c on Syfy.
