Out of all the things at TGS, this part was the best (besides BoA of course)
This counts more than just a trailer; it’s more like a mini movie. Final Fantasy is no stranger to high quality cut scenes that pan out like small films. It was actually Square Enix who decided to introduce romantic themes into video games. It’s a theme they’ve excelled in, and there’s plenty of that in this trailer.
The game is set so far in the future, it’s reminiscent of a mixture of 7, 8 and 12. Could Lightning be a descendant of Cloud? Don’t chew my head off, but I’m just speculating here. Actually, save for FFX-2, all Final Fantasy titles have no relationship to each other except the name.

Anyway, I can’t wait for this to hit America. Just watch the VIDEO –click already, and in HD please.

You guys and excited for this. LOL

Wonder how the soundtrack will sound like. Nobuo Uetmatu’s work won’t be in FFXIII :( Instead, Masashi Hamauzu is doing it (co-composer of FFX, composer of DoC). Battle theme sounds cool though!
wow it looks amazing~

I’m not a huge RPG player, but when a new FF comes out. You know you need to at least try it out.
The grid system in FFX was so easy compared to everything else!
wow this looks really sweet.

ugh. I bought Dissidia when it came out, but I haven’t played it yet. It won’t play on my firmware. I have to update it slightly, but not to the most recent one because my PSP is hacked. But I heard Dissidia is really hard to play. That’s not good. I suck at fighting games. That’s why I always stick to RPGs. =)
Crisis Core. Visually stunning. And nostalgic.
Excited for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep! But I still haven’t played Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+. I heard the characters for Birth by Sleep were briefly featured in that game.

Dissidia makes me want a PSP, that and the Crisis core and the other KH add on games =/
I can’t afford an mp3 player or Psp or anything like that but always wanted one. Its considered a very guilty luxury, when i have too many other things that need my financial attention.

Those. Graphics. Are. Effing. Amazing.
I want it. xD

^ DBSK is very popular. So I’m just comparing how popular Square Enix and their FF franchise to them.

I need a PSP.. So many games I want to try. Crisis Core, Dissidia..
world wide, SE is definitely more popular than DBSK~
but in korea, DBSK is defnitely bigger than SE.
My bro has dissidia (the japanese version) on his psp. when he was home i played it a lot! its pretty fun~

^not sure what DBSK has to do with FF, but okayyy
i think it might sell about 4 million copies.
and I would be looking forward to the new KH if i had a psp.

^ FFX’s Grid system wasn’t lame. If you started in Expert Mode, all the characters started in the middle, allowing you to customise their growth. Nobody likes FFX except me. :(
Kingdom Hearts was okay.
Looking forward to KH: Birth by Sleep on PSP?
Square Enix hopes to sell 6 million copies of FFXIII! I mean, DBSK sold about 400 000 copies of Mirotic and their fanbase is huge but SE wants 20 times those sales.. Good luck. I know I’ll be pre-ordering this game.

Yeah I can’t get into the game battle system if I don’t like the rest of hte game, thats why I just quit on FFXII after 40hrs into it.
And I’m with Michael on FF7 and FF9 as favorite characters and theme. Both games had easier to use battle systems and I loved the epic summon sequences in FF9 too. Yeah Zidane and Garnet were too cuteI named my chef character in Ff9 “yumyum” lol
I get confused easily with Grids, so I didn’t like that factor in FFX.
And I’m also a big fan of the first Kingdom Hearts
FF7 - Materia system was my favorite system. period.
FF9 - It was pretty easy to understand, i liked it. not as customizable as i’d prefer, but still great.
ff8 - the whole junction thing was crappy i think. all you had to do was get 100 of the strongest spells and junction it, then you pretty much own.
FFx - the grid system was so lame. you pretty had to the follow each character’s path for most of the game.
oh, and first Kingdom Hearts was amazing. i like that kinda of fighting also~

^ FFX was my first FF game! It’s awesome. How could you hate it. T___T
I liked the plot, the characters, the love story, perhaps even the battle system.

^Oh and yeah Michael glad you love FF9 too! Definitely underrated. Just because it had cartoony characters people didnt take it seriously. Keep it simple you know? And yeah FFXII need some romantic themes
Tactics, Chrono Trigger, were also great for me.
FF8 is kinda forgotten but it was great.
chrono trigger was pretty amazing. so many different endings. i loved all the combined techs. pretty sweet.
FF8 was lame i think. I beat it once. then never ever played it again. I do think it made for an okay romance story.
FFX9 is tied with FF7 as my favorite. I liked the zidane/garnet romance. it was cute, i think. especially in the end where they embrace each other. so sweet.
anyways, i just liked the characters in those two games more than the characters in other games.
is anyone else here an FF10 hater? I am

I like the battle system of FFXII though. No loading screens before battles and getting to choose whether to run away or not. Gambits were cool too.
FFXIII battles will still be real-time but they’ve decided to scrap the gambits idea.
I liked gambits. :(

^ I thought Vaan and Penelo might have something going on between them but they have a sisterly-brotherly relationship. So no.
Baltheir and Fran? They’re work partners, so no.
Balthier and Ashe? No.
Basch and Ashe? No.
Vaan and Ashe? No.
Penelo and Basch? No no no.
Vaan and Balthier? Now there’s something.. j/k
Seriously, the people who produced FFXII had no imagination!!
Thats a pretty good explanation, Alexa.
Actually what I meant was, I couldn’t connect myself into the game or the characters or the theme. It just didn’t work for me. IF If compare the legendary unsung game of FF9, that medieval theme worked much better. I just hope this new FFXIII isn’t overly too technical. I couldn’t work myself into the 10 menus fast enough to beat bosses. I spent more time looking at the menu than enjoying the fight. And I don’t like super long boss battles.

Thank you Alexa and Michael for agreeing that FFXII did NOT live up to its name! Its been tooo many years for a good FF game to come out! It looks like they brought back a lot of VIII elements so I’ll like that idea. Falling in love with the characters are a must in these game series. I could find no connection whatsoever with any of the characters in FFXII.
imo, FFVII and FFIX were the best. and also FFTactics on playstation.
I like how this one is sorta futuristic~
