Apparently earlier this year, a man named Eddie Rath released an online album devoted to the manga/anime, Naruto. I thought it was absolutely awesome that an entire English album dedicated to an anime was available in the States (only in mp3 format however). But after listening to a few songs….let’s just say I had a different opinion.

The album is titled Naruto 2009 and can be purchased at amazon. The genre of the album? Rap & Hip-hop. It’s a unique genre for an anime such as Naruto but that doesn’t mean the two can’t mix. Well, that’s what I had originally thought.

Eddie Rath has an interesting style - reminding me of Lil Wayne for some reason. Unfortunately it’s not a style I listen to very often which would explain why I didn’t fully enjoy his songs. It doesn’t help that the song is of poor quality (or maybe that’s just youtube) making it not sound as crisp as I would like it to be. Overall, if you’re a fan of the rap (maybe even hardcore rap) genre then you might find yourselves enjoying this album, even more so if you’re also a fan of Naruto.

For me, I’d prefer to listen to Andrew V.K.’s Gundam album which contains songs from the original anime with all the lyrics sung in English. But that might be because I prefer rock music over rap when it comes to the English language (for some reason I tend to listen to rap/hip-hop more than rock when it’s in Korean or Japanese).

I’ll give him props for actually producing an anime album and coming up the unique lyrics. It’s a lot more than what I can do!

Here’s a couple of samples of his music (be aware that explicit language may be used)
