It seems that the Japanese company Haruyama Trading Co., has found a way to protect people from the H1N1 flu (a.k.a. swine flu). Their solution? Have people wear their suits.
Of course, it’s not just an ordinary suit. The suit contains titanium dioxide, a chemical that reacts to light to kill the virus when it comes in contact with the suit. What an interesting idea! The suit was in development for a year and should keep its properties after being washed a few times.
This spiffy product doesn’t look that different from the regular working man’s suit and comes in four styles and colors (medium grey, charcoal, navy, grey pinstripe). The company only produced 50,000 suits so far and started the sales this past Thursday. However, these babies will cost you 52,290 yen each (approx. $600); not many people have that much money to spare these days.
I find this an interesting way to fight off the virus but who would want to wear a suit all the time? I understand if a man is going to work but what about his days off? But, I guess it doesn’t matter much as long as the suit fulfills its purpose. I wonder if a ladies version is in production…
