This October, many will rise, but only few may stand. I don’t make up the rules, it’s just the natural order of things. The sheer amount of Kpop groups coming up this Fall is in record breaking numbers, and it’s only hurting their chances of standing out of the competition. It’s the rule of competition. If 12 or so groups are debuting in a month, of the same genre, it’s the peoples’ natural selection to rule out the ones who are the least.
1.Lady Collection
This group decides they’ll do RnB ballads instead of dance music like 95% of the other groups debuting. And not only that, but the singers chose songs that display their great emotions and range. Their voices are just very strong and beautiful. It also helps the singers look good. It appears this song, A Girl Who I Know, would well be promoted in hit K-dramas to come.
2.Secret
I Want You Back. Catchy? Yes. Vocals that aren’t overly synthesized, yes. Range? Decent. Keeping it clean. Yes. That is a what pop needs to stay mainstream. This method keeps younger audiences and old folks alike, but does not deter away too many fans their age.
3.MBLAQ
With the backing of Rain, standing ovation at his concert and the addition of brother of 2NE1’s Sandara Park, Oh Yeah! looks like it’s everything out there preventing them from failure. Fashion. Love it or hate it, they stand out especially with their Goth look that hasn’t been done a lot. See below about HAM. If these 2 groups become successful, the cute-goth trend will surely follow.
4.HAM
Cute goth and skulls? That hasn’t been done much before. Super catchy T.T Dance? Oh that can work. Seriously, everyone I know is singing this song. Any dope knows that’s the key to success. Not to mention that everyone can remember their name, and they aren’t making any arrogant claims like some groups. *Cough Top.AZ*
5. B2Y
I’ll take a risk here, and say they could do well based off the glowing reviews of fan ratings. What makes them stand out is that their songs are catchy, and they are Co-ed group. What has been done before is the whole remake of old disco songs. I don’t mind A-Teens stuff, but they need to get their own song-style soon, or may not last beyond the Fall, Jeez!
6. JQT
Did I put 5? Haha I lied. Hmm, lets just put them down cause I think their new track I Fell For You is catchy as hell and insurance prevents me from being stoned, if one of those top 5 fail, haha.
This conclusion comes from compare and contrast. Some other groups simply have little in terms of music quality, range or other traits. These groups; SHU-I, NS yoonji, Top.AZ might not make it this Fall. They are talented, but their song choices, production of lackluster vocals and excess focus on the sex without music might be a bad start.
Please, take this blog as a best guess. If you have something to add, please convince me. I’d rather be wrong and have everyone succeed.
Note: f(x) fans, they already debuted long enough ago so don’t throw any stones at me, thanks. Notice the future tense.
