There’s a new species of birds taking over the skies of Japan and, depending on your preference, it could be a dream come true or a nightmare from the mind of Alfred Hitchcock. Welcome to the world of Sora no Otoshimono.

Sora no Otoshimono is an ecchi and fantasy manga/anime created by Suu Minazuki and contains plenty of fan service with a side dish of flying underwear. Yeah you read it right. Flying underwear. To be more specific, women’s underwear. And they’re not just in the sky because it’s windy and someone forgot to bring the laundry in. They’re actually flapping around as if they had wings and from afar, they look like seagulls (I feel strange as I type this up when I refer to the underwear as ‘they’- as if they’re alive).

I don’t watch or read the series so I’m not sure how often these “creatures” actually appear, but they seem popular enough to have a whole anime ending dedicated to their…um, uniqueness. The song, Misaki Meguri, is nice to listen to and makes the whole panties-flying-in-the-sky scene dramatic. At first I thought the song was done by Ai Otsuka but turns out it’s one of the voice actresses from the show.

If you’re interested in the show you can watch it on crunchyroll with new episodes streaming every Monday at 8 am PDT.

So is this an anime you’re interested in watching? It’s okay to admit your fantasy for flying underwear. I mean, who doesn’t have that fantasy?
